I have seen this gentleman a couple times in videos, but they never showed all this. I am super excited to find this series and watch the other videos! My dream is to one day be able to have a custom pair of shows. It would be amazing if it was from this gentleman. I have very hard feet to fit and have never had show that are good for my feet....Unless foam flip flops count. It does worry me that he said shoes that Don't fit can't destroy your feet. But that would explain why my feet have never been the same after wearing a certain pair of sandals. They were like a hard foam with arch support (never had that type of shoe) and I thought my feet needed to get used to them. They did stop hurting after awhile, and I thought they must have just needed to be broken in, or my feet to get used to it. But after wearing them for winter, my feet really started hurt and got messed up for a whole. They still get way more sore then they used to. Anyway tried wearing them this year and it started all over and I decided it just wasn't worth going over that again. Sire hope they didn't hurt my feet permanently. Love the boot this gentleman makes and sure hope to some day feel what heaven on your feet feels like.

If they fit right I maintain they are the most comfortable footwear one can wear! My favourites are a vintage pair of NOS Justin’s made in the USA in the 1980’s (Justin were wonderful in going through their records to ascertain the history of them. They are in full quill black Ostrich and I love them! Well done, Mr. Allison. I was going to say that most boot wearers in Texas or other hot climes prefer a thicker cotton or even wool sock that will breathe. Perhaps you have discovered this? I would say most prefer over the calf or at least mid calf fitment. 11/2" above mid calf is the preferred height, depending on the length of you calf. There is a Jerry Jeff Walker song about Capitol Saddlery where Charlie Dunn worked. He even worked on my factory made boots, but I never had the luxury of having a pair made for me by him.

Allen Sandusky I find myself surprised regarding the lack of technology as well, particularly in regards to last making. As much as I enjoy a master craftsman carrying on traditional methods, I can’t help but think a person’s foot could be 3D scanned in much less time with much greater precision, then a custom last could be 3D printed.
@kirbyallison7 жыл бұрын

The fit was unlike anything I have ever experienced. We never wore socks as the mold was taken without wearing socks and if you put socks on your performance went down as you couldn’t feel the skate as well. My God, I would -love- a pair of boots from this gentleman. Though I'd imagine these are astronomically expensive. D: *hates being poor*

Oh this was just TERRIFIC. I learned so much. In my 20s and 30s I was a Frye and Tony Lama man in New York City; now in my 60s I'm currently driving a nice pair of brown Justins here in Los Angeles (always appropriate with a suit or jeans). Off the rack so far, but I'm waiting to see your finished product. I may have to spring for custom after all. I love boots. Maybe we can swap out your navy blazer for a fringed cowhide rodeo coat. Possible? Next, the hat. Thanks for posting this epic educational masterpiece. The Hanger (and BOOT) Project!

Bobby Reed Thanks! This will be my first pair! I’ll probably have to buy some jeans and trousers just for them. Pretty exciting, and it was really insightful for me to hear him talk through the measurements. Few last makers do this.
