I was born in 2000 in California and I was always taught to take any type of hat off inside any building.

I’ve always heard remove your hat in a church or courtroom but I’ll wear my hats everywhere else.

It depends where you are If its a Public area like a hotel lobby or a reception, doorway, train station, you can wear your hat. But, if its Private: House, hospital, cinema, classroom, waiting room for your gp, office. A gentleman takes his hat off.

@@aleccooksI always felt like in some instances it makes sense to take your hat off completely like if you’re about to talk business in somebody’s office. But after formal introduction you can put it back on

Years ago when people respected other people's property anyone could leave their hat at the door and it would not be touched or even moved. Nowadays if you take your hat off and let go of it or set it down you're likely to see someone's three year old kid running around with your $500 hat!

Exactly what respect isn't show with or without the hat? I believe, like alot of things, this hats off inside for respect, is just like saying, "if I don't like what you are wearing then I'm being disrespected. Plainly whether your wearing a hat or not, inside or outside, I don't feel disrespected. I think it's an issue of ego when people try to control people. Long lasting form of disrespect is to make any person do what I want because of how I feel. Wear them hats where ever you want in my eyes!

Jason Dehart it’s literally a hold over from the medieval era when knights would remove their helmets in front of a king or “God” to show vulnerability and submission. It’s ridiculous

My hat actually fits, so I can't just grab the crown and take it off that easy. If your hat comes off that easy it's too big.
