Another great one. My grandmother, born about 1903, always had a wood burning stove in her house. After they got electricity, she also had an electric range. I never, ever saw her use the electric range. She always preferred her wood burning stove! The only one to use the electric range was grandpa, who always fixed him a pot of rice for his supper.

2:43 I can attest to that. I've experienced it many times while cooking cold steaks that I had just pulled out of the fridge. Sometimes one side would cook through more than the other, and sometimes it wouldn't seem to cook through at all, despite having it in the hot skillet for several minutes. I like a steak that's pink in the middle, but I can't hardly eat it if it's bloody and has that strong iron taste, which happened often to me when cooking it straight from the fridge. Letting it sit out for a little while has given me better and more consistent results.
