I just love watching everyone working together on the ranch and how you explain what they are doing !What a beautiful well laid out ranch you have built Jason ! I really do not know why people fuss about branding ! I heard someone say that they should all be micro-chipped, can you imagine!!

I like how you changed it up with a bit of afterthought narration! Probably takes a lot of pressure off you in the moment to remember everything you want to cover or talk about. Plus you don't have everyone around you looking all wild eyed at what you're doing 😂 I get all awkward on other peoples live streams trying not to be Me (loud, chatty and full of stupid laughs) even though I've been doing my own for awhile, doing it in front of people who don't feels weird hahahaha!!🤣 This was a great video covering the whole process! I've always enjoyed your annual branding video, everybody does it differently around the country and y'all have a real nice way of doing things down there at Mendota. I appreciate that you heel 'em AND I love seeing ropers work! It's just one of those things, an Abrams tank firing, the TingTingTing of targets getting landed and a consistent heel shot....things that gets a girls attention! LOVED seeing the kids get involved, learning respect alongside Skills! Audrey is a great example for all those young'uns, always a pleasure to see her helping out! She's a good kid👍I'd be interested to know what she wants to study after High School, she shows a great deal of respect for whatever she's doing when we've seen her on screen. I could easily see her in animal medicine. Looking forward to the next video as always!

Glad you liked it! It was fun to try it this way and not talk constantly on the fly! She’s really interested in veterinary medicine! She’s a quick learner and hard working.

Just curious why you choose not to band your steers when they are born? We have a herd of 500 and it works out the best for us
@themendotaranch2 жыл бұрын
Our smallest pasture is 1,000 acres. Sometimes they are hard to find. This works the best for us and has been done this way for 100 years. Thanks!

@@themendotaranch Thanks I understand and I realize it’s been done since the beginning didn’t mean to strike a nerve just we have noticed less stress on calf’s is all but didn’t realize your areas were so big and obviously what works for one doesn’t work for another 👍🏻

I would NEVER break out a rope in the pasture. If something had to be roped in pasture for some reason that is for the owner or one of his regular hands to do. Too many bad things can go wrong. Also if it was open when you got there leave it open. If it was closed make sure it closed when you leave.

Why don't u use ear tags n the rubber bands?
@themendotaranch2 жыл бұрын
Ear tags fall out and rubber bands are cruel.
@cherisandles10042 жыл бұрын
Isn't using a knife to cut the open cruel? Of course it's quicker n will heal faster than the rubber that I've always felt cruel for the length of time it's on the animal. So maybe ur method better. Are they given an anti' biotic at the same time to keep them from infection?
