Everything....ownership, front office, coaching, and roster!! It all has to be in sync. Some fortune has to be involved each year for the teams that make the final four. The onus is now on Jerry, Stephen, and Will right? They hired the man they wanted to lead the troops, now will they give the general enough good soldiers? The Cowboys have some good soldiers, you don't win close to 12 games a year if you don't have some talented players. One issue is some of the top teams have lots more good players, so i think it's wise for the front office and the coaches to sit down together and go over the roster position by position to see "where" the biggest improvements need to be made. If you are at a talent deficit vs other teams, then your coaching has to be well above average towards exceptional.

Many folks are talking about giving him a chance and then expect an immediate NFC championship appearance. That's not it. To establish a culture even if the records are dismal for 1-2 years, that's giving him a chance. But honestly, the Cowboys management have 0 goodwill left for me.

I'm cool with Brian as HC. In my opinion, he has deserved this opportunity for a long time. He learned the game under his dad, the great Marty Schottenheimer. I don’t care about big names or hot commodities. And I will not allow talking heads or whiny fans to shape my opinion before the man even coaches a game. Brian Schottenheimer might be getting his 1st ever shot at being an NFL HC, but I believe he's more than ready and that he'll prove to be an outstanding HC. But he has to show and prove.

That's the problem with a Jerry Jones. He doesn't do "rebuilding". The team always has to shine, even when it has a bad motor running on bad gas. The Cowboys would probably be better off in five years it really hit rock bottom. Feeling like it doesn't count. They are now only one season removed from three consecutive 12 win seasons (which resulted in nothing). Now Schotty is gonna make it all better and put 'em in the trophy room? And if he doesn't? Then what?

At first I was mad and frustrated but after hearing this guy talk i have some optimism and so far he’s putting together a pretty good coaching staff. People forget Matt had a top 10 defense with the colts as DC maybe it was top 5

That's simple. You are rationalizing. Simply how the brain copes with unpleasant situations and alternatives. Call it copium. Marinelli, Nolan, Quinn, Zimmer...all guys with good stock. The Cowboys, with Prescott making the big bucks, will have to pinch pennies (as it seems Stephen Jones is good at) these days...which means a good but not great defense. And even then, a turnover producing 21-22' defense didn't help them get over the hump.

@ I ain’t gone lie you’re definitely right I am rationalizing but I also do think we should give this guy a shot I feel as if there were better candidates but I am willing to give this guy his fair shot as we did with Mike McCarthy after year 1. I’m a die hard fan but I refuse to let Jerry keep getting away with this so I’ll be a fan from afar and just watch games online instead of in person. Maybe we’ll win some games.

The only thing us as Cowboys fans have to hope for is the Giants don't get a good QB. Not even a Great qb, a good qb. If the Giants get a good qb we will be in the NFC basement for the next 4-6 yrs.We still are exactly where were last yr. We're exactly where we were 10,15 20yrs ago. Zero identity. We will lead the league again in penalties. We will lead the league again in redzone turnovers. We will continue to do predictable plays. Shotty fits in to be a Jerry guy and that's it. Well, Dan Campbell was successful in Detroit with very little head coaching experience so let's wait to see how Schottenheimer can do but the biggest question out there is what tools and how much authority was Campbell given and what will Schotty be given.

Different front office. Different owners. Different philosophy. Better salary cap situation. Better players now. Comparing an apple with a rotten potato. Schottenheimer won't have any more authority than McCarthy had...and likely LESS (since he's putatively good at "deference" according to Jerry Jones) at the end of the day. The guy is happy just to have the job. Laughable coaching search. And now they have to sell the lemon to the gullible...even though the timer ticks toward 30 years. Good grief. I feel worse than I felt when they made Garrett head coach. Switzer could wax optimistic in 1994 because of what the team had already accomplished. Here it seems canned and not entirely believable. The margin for stupidity and bad decisions is now much smaller than it was in 2021-22. And we must trust the same group who traded away Amari Cooper "for nothing" to suddenly become as astute and as high-functioning as that group in the midwest with some guy named Mahomes at quarterback. Not...very...likely.

All past coaches have told us that they were the ones to win and change the culture. His offense wasn't very exciting these past years. Until our first game my expectations are low like this past season. Will the front office get him the coaches he wants, or will they install Jerry coaches? Will they get him free agents that can help, or will continue hitting the bargain bin? Last year it was clear that the front office was not going to help the coach or team. Will that change this upcoming season?

This is madness! Let's look at the facts. The Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world. Jerry Jones paid $146,000,000 for the Cowboys now there Worth $5.2 billion! There is no way in hell that the Dallas Cowboys should not have the best available football coach in the world! The fan base is enormous. Jerry could easily hire George's Kirby Smart Or whoever else you think is the top coach in America today. But Jerry will never do that because it's all about Jerry it's not about the Cowboys and if you think it is you're a sucker! Kansas City Chiefs fans are living in a million square foot mansion and the Dallas Cowboys fans are living in tents on the side of the road when it comes to championships. There's only one person you have to thank for that and that's Jerry Jones. He has no incentive to change you keep opening up your wallets and giving him your money so why would he stop doing what he's doing? The culture at the star kills the Cowboys' chances to win. When you get drafted by the Dallas Cowboys you are instantly A NFL star you have no incentive to be hungry there's nothing to strive for you already have it your only goal as a new cowboy player is to get to that second contract not win a Super Bowl. Micah Parsons is the perfect example he came out of Penn State a beast but the cowboy culture has turned him into a podcast not a better football player. Jerry's strongest point which is marketing has killed the Cowboys. It's no longer about football it's about the money that Jerry and his family can make and it's the fans who are undercutting their chances at winning by supporting this garbage.

Yes law if we can get to good running backs out of this 2025 draft run real good and hard for us more than 10 to 15 yards then we good to the point that it will take the pressure off Dak Prescott or how ever back there playing the quarterback position because we don't need Dak Prescott or no quarterback to be throwing a lot of turnovers and big football games that can cost us to get to the playoffs or even past the playoffs.

Prescott is coming into his 10th season and STILL they haven't figured out that his best play comes on the back of a very potent ground game. It's the same for Hurts in Philadelphia but unlike Dallas, they have figured it out and adjusted to the player. Voila! Superbowl. His SECOND in four or five years.

Brian Schottenheimer is a solid choice for HC. The problem for most people is Jerry's process. It's ridiculous and reckless. But we shouldn't project our disdain for the process onto the new HC. In other words, just because the process was bad doesn't necessarily mean that the hire was bad. If you look at Brian Schottenheimer's resume without being prejudiced by Jerry's process, you should see that his coaching philosophy and offensive approach aligns with principles that produced 5 SB championships for this organization. Jerry's process may be ridiculous, but hiring Brian Schottenheimer as HC is not imo.

For the past 30 years, Jerry has been hiring the coaches, making the draft selections and personnel decisions, negotiating the contracts, and talking to the media about the team philosophy, approach, and direction. Jerry has had his finger in everything. He is the one constant overshadowing this entire 30-year drought.
