B+ DRAFT GRADE *GUYTON is a top 3 OT in this draft imo. Amazing traits. The upside is insane. Day 1 starter. Dallas knows how to draft OL. GRADE A. *KNEELAND is a DLaw replacement. Great run defender. GRADE B+ *BEEBE is my favorite player in the draft. Day 1 starter at center. Grade A+. *LIUFAU has a nonstop motor. I see upside. Grade B *CARSON was BPA in rd 5. Definitely a high IQ and heavy hitter. Never scared. Grade B+. *FLOURNOY is such a fun player to watch and i see him as our Deebo Samuel. Grade A-. THOMAS is a great value pick. He was a steal. Great depth piece. Grade B. ROGERS was my best NT remaining. I think he makes the team and contributes a little this season. Grade C+ They will figure out RB later. They will make a trade or sign Zeke. DOWDLE IS RB1 ATM.

Thanks for the video. As bad as the running back room is, the Cowboys have Mazi Smith, Osa Odighizuwa, and Carl Banks as defensive tackles plus having Chauncey Golston as a 'tweener tackle. The Cowboys have been pushed around in the running game. The big need for the Cowboys was defensive tackle, and they didn't address that need until pick 244. That's a sad commentary on how things went. While the Cowboys might need a fast wide receiver, that need isn't as big because Prescott really doesn't hit long passes. I understand wanting speed, but taking a receiver who has had injuries and not played high end competition when the other needs are so strong seems foolish. If I weren't trying to persuade Prescott to seek a trade, triple-dipping on the offensive line would make more sense. On the other hand, most of these seem to be developmental picks. That encourages me a little bit. I see Nathan Thomas as a little bit of a pet cat, so I really like that pick. Individually, Tyler Guyton - A Marshawn Kneeland - B- (only because the Cowboys are still full of edge players) Cooper Beebe - A- (If he successfully transitions to center, he's an A. If he ends up being a guard and the Cowboys don't trade Zack Martin for picks, he's a B.) Marist Liufau - C Caelen Carson - B Ryan Flournoy - D Nathan Thomas - A Justin Rogers - B+ My overall grade is a C+. The Cowboys need to be a physical team on the defensive side of the ball, and this draft doesn't do quite enough to make them that kind of team. Much will also depend on what they do with the UDFA class. If they made some of these picks in anticipation of getting some UDFA players and those players come to the Cowboys, this grade could improve. For instance, if they sign both Nathaniel Watson and Jordan Magee as linebackers, the linebacker room is going to look much better. If they pick up another good defensive tackle prospect as a UDFA, that will make the draft look better. Maybe they have a line on some UDFA running back who will be happy to join the team and can provide some help.

I don’t get your overall C+ grade. You only have 2 individual grades below that one C and one D. 6 grades above it A,A,A-, B+, B, B-. Your median individual grade is between B and B+ yet you drop the overall to a C+? Beebe could play guard and Tyler Smith could kick out to tackle while Guyton develops. Bass plays center perhaps. I guess time will tell, hopefully it will be good to us.
@VTPSTTU
@VTPSTTU 5 ай бұрын
@@dr.markevers8331 Thanks for a good question. Essentially, you are asking how the whole can be less than the sum of the parts. I don't pretend that I can give an answer with which you will agree, but I'll try to give you my thought process and to some extent what I suspect many fans will be thinking. Many of us would like to see the Cowboys make a statement. Mr. Downey has often complained that the Cowboys don't seem to be going in any particular direction with their choices. Some of us would like the Cowboys to admit openly that the Super Bowl window for this team probably doesn't open until 2026 or 2027 and that the team will make choices aimed at developing for that time. Others want to see the Cowboys do everything necessary to win a Super Bowl right now with Dak Prescott as the quarterback. To do that, they need to extend Prescott in a way that will put off his big salary cap hits into the future. They would then use the cap space to sign good free agents and build a championship-caliber team around him. Many of us would like to see the Cowboys send a message that this team is going to be physical. We may lose, but we won't be beat in the trenches. Many of us look at individual areas where the team seems to be weak in the big games and want to see a real commitment to improving those areas as they apply to the big games. I don't think this draft sends any particular message. Justin Rogers may end up being a pretty good defensive tackle, but addressing defensive tackle at pick 244 doesn't send a message that the Cowboys are going to have a powerful run defense in the big games. Justin Rogers is not likely to give the Cowboys an inside rush that will pressure quarterbacks. No one expects him to be an upgrade over Jonathan Hankins. He's a Band-Aid over a weakness. Marshawn Kneeland should help in run defense, but he's not likely to play all three downs because he's not a good rusher. If teams are passing on early downs, we're accepting that we won't get much rush on them. He's a replacement for Fowler and Armstrong, but they weren't major contributors. Again, he's a Band-Aid on a weakness. No one really sees Marist Liufau as a future great linebacker. The Cowboys need linebacker depth, but they also need linebacker excellence. We don't know whether Trevon Diggs will return to his previous ability after his injury. Eventually, we'll have to try to pay DaRon Bland. Caelen Carson is a good piece to put into the pipeline, but I'm not sure that this pick sends a message. The Cowboys have a bunch of wide receivers who need to develop from their day 3 or UDFA beginnings. Ryan Flournoy may be faster than most of them, but he's never played against great competition and has an injury history. Even at pick 216, a defensive tackle combined with the Rogers pick at 244 would have sent a message that the Cowboys are going to become a powerful defense. On the other hand, if the Cowboys wanted to send the message that they are going to surround Prescott with talent now for a win now, they would have grabbed a better receiver earlier in the draft. If they wanted to send a message that they are going to win now, they would have gotten a running back. The offensive line picks seem to send a message that the Cowboys are going to get rid of mediocre offensive linemen, but two of them being more developmental guys seems to suggest that the Cowboys are planning for the window to open later than for them to make a run now. Maybe this draft will make sense later in the summer. Maybe I'm more negative because last year's draft seemed to be full of bad decisions.I just see this draft as less than the sum of the parts right now.

Making the o line better makes the running game better. Not sure why these content creators don’t see this. Makes me question people when they don’t see that

I like that they stayed true in getting stronger at the line . Just dont bring back zeke . We can get the same or more production with what we have or can still get from other teams or f.a

I don't have an issue at all with their running back room. They've got Deuce Vaughn, Rico Dowdle, Zeke, Malik Davis, and Hunter Luepke. My educated guess is they will probably add another back to this room before the preseason. Let's get ourselves out of panic mode. This will probably be a committee backfield, and that means fresh legs. Stopping the run is our highest priority, not running back.

I give our grade a solid C, I don't believe in passing on better talent to get multiple picks of lesser talent, and our 1st Rd pick is very raw and we need someone to step in and help year 1, then Beebe I think is our best pick. Also I don't like not taking a RB with one of our 3rd picks...very disappointing because Dak like most QBs plays way better with a good run game. But let's hope all the picks turn out better then we think..let's go cowboys!!!

Did i hear you say no speed at receiver but Flournoy has it. We have a receiver now that has more speed that Daks arm can throw to and thats Turpin. Flournoy cant stretch the field if Dak hangs onto the ball to long and Flournoy gets out of Daks range. That has happened to Turpin a couple of times. Dak has always wanted to see a receiver wide open before he throws the ball and that hurts when trying to stretch the field. Even some Dallas DB's have admitted that.

Guyton reminds me a lot of Tyler Smith! Athletic and big O Lineman who needs some technique work. Smith made me nervous as does Guyton. Hopefully Guyton works out as well as Smith. With how Dallas has drafted OL we should give them benefit of doubt.

I love the Marist Liufau pick tbh. Notre Dame produces some decent linebackers. They could’ve grabbed running backs anywhere but didn’t. I’m wondering if they are trying to get both Zeke and Dalvin Cook. I actually love this draft class a lot but that’s no surprise. Will McClay is the only front office guy I see as being the most competent, and it’s not even close. I’m not so big of Kneeland. Feels like Taco Charlton 2.0.

Honestly, I think we’ll be fine with Elliot as our starter and maybe we can find a decent udfa to split reps. But, we MUST get an rb in the early rounds of next year’s draft.

Yeah no. Barely did anything last year in Dallas, and did nothing with New England. Only hope is teams in the preseason cut a RB. Maybe trade for Mostert since Miami drafted Wright and has Achane.

I think the Cowboys had a bee draft. It was not a bad draft because they really solidified the offensive line and the only thing it doesn't make them in A is that they did not get a running back which disappoints a lot of cowboy fans. now after June 1st if they do get another good running back and let Zeke potentially back him up then I think the Cowboys will be okay.

Dowdle stays healthy he is a RB1 mark my words.. that kid can ball. You all forget because he gets injured so much. Vaughn got some of the worst chances to run last year... late game and out of reach games? Cant evaluate him off that. Freeman is a 1 cut schem fit.. and we all know Malik Davis has some pop... gtfo man.. i mean which RB we taking that is just so much better than them?? I would've liked Estime or Allen personally.. didnt happen. But... we retooled the oline. We got some Run stopping Defensive players.. and a true athlete at WR. you guys are casuals if you cant see the plan. B+ Draft

Honestly the rb situation Is not a killer I think rbs are become less and less important as a team like the chiefs can basically go without one plus that issue can be address before or during the season plus let’s have some faith in what we have at that position they can get it done any person can gain yards with a great o line as we saw with pollard

To say it is the worse RB room in the nfl is a little much. They didn’t make flashy picks but they addressed a lot of positions they needed. There might be some RBs on the move before the start of next season, this is far from the final roster.

I still don't understand how in a free agency where pretty much most of the top 10-ish RBs in the league were all available, you didn't pick up a single one. Even my Packers, who are not known for free agency moves got a top RB (and then we made one available and you didn't grab him either, I would've way rather seen Aaron Jones in Dallas than MN).

Ok heres my thoughts on the draft for what its worth Guyton is not plug and play, at least on the left side, so Smith is going to have to be moved to tackle anyways. 2025 starter maybe. Only thing saving this from being an F is the trade which I gave an A grade to. Grade = D Kneeland Dallas has two players with similar body type and position, Golston and Vili, so this pick was redundant to me. Who is backing up Osa? Trice, Dorlus, and Elliss were available so were Carter and Jackson as DTs (which was a greater need) MUCH BETTER OPTIONS!!! Another D Beebe. This is a plug and play starter, I hope he can play center, or he would be a wasted pick as a guard considering we have Bass, who could also start. Haynes would have been a better pick here. Ill give this pick a B Marist WAAAAAAY to early. Reach, much better options available even later. If they were hard up for a LB in THIS SPOT Gray would have been a better choice. Hell much better LBs available later. Only reason he'll stick at least this year is his draft status. Grade F Carson PnP sneaky need. Has special team reps in college. Start him in the 3rd or 4th CB spot. Liked James better. Grade C Flournoy Seems to me that they took a WR just to take a WR. Whats wrong with Rice? Grade D Thomas, A nasty mauler, for this spot this was a good pick. will probably play inside. My only question is how many IOL does Dallas need? Grade C Rogers will have to be PNP, either him or Davis will have to be the backup/rotational piece for Mazi, Dallas has no choice. Could have gotten a better DT at the Kneeland pick. Grade D No RBs taken. That lowers the total grade at least one grade UDFA Whats wrong with Leonard Taylor III, Keith Randolp, Steele Chambers, Beau Brade, or Cephus? But Dallas has to be cute and sign another TE!?!? And a camp fodder RB Overall D
