By April I have a lot of cool season grass, Can you plant rye triticale earlier and get a good forage stand by Feburary?

We have never been able to grow a strong stand before February but it does give it a faster start for the next Spring. I would recommend contacting a local seed dealer to help you figure out if the rye Triticale will do better for your environment.

Yes, we totally agree. We use poly rope reels to make smaller paddocks normally, but all of our reels were tied up at the time of this move. We did split into thirds the next time they came threw this felid. Thanks for the comment and the compliment.

What are the advantages of a Simmental-Angus Cross? I assume you use Simmental Cows with Angus Bulls. Can the heifers of this cross be used as a family milk cow for home milk production? The reason that I ask is I have heard that Angus milk is high in butterfat and your cows have extremely nice udders and nice size teats for milking. You have a great channel.

Have you tried a mix of 8 or more species to improve your pasture diversity and nutrition?

Yes, we used a custom mix. The mix used included oats for late fall pasture. Then what was growing in the video was Triticale, winter peas, crimson clover, and Ryegrass. This year we added more species to the mix. This grew very well for us it would be fully recovered in about 20-25 rest days.

Your cattle look great!! I run some purebred “simmies” and a few f1 simangus too. I utilize annual ryegrass heavily this time of year. FarNorCal Cheers.
