I hate to be this person, but we’re hot shot drivers my husband and I, we would absolutely never buy one of these for our kids to ride in. This is literally made for getting around sleeping in hotels. It’s not made for the family road trip, it’s not air bag equipped, probably doesn’t have the proper restraints for seat belts etc. when you found out they were made for hot shot drivers that would have been my red flag.

In fairness, this review may have sparked some better customer service and tighter quality control. These cabs may be better now. However, if I had it to do over again, I probably would have just gotten a second vehicle. There are still too many unknowns with regards to the safety and legality of kids riding in a cab. If something would have happened to my kids while we were driving this thing, I would have never forgiven myself. We no longer have the cab.

Looks like we had a very similar experience at about the same time. They didn't install my side windows either. Unfortunately I had mine delivered so I didn't find out until it was at my house. I had to rehang the door myself to get it to close. I changed out all the skin grabbing screws for appropriately sized nuts and bolts. I planned on installing jeep seats with seat belts. Emailed pictures, drawings and measurements for the height of the seat base I needed. What I received wasn't even close. Looks like they just made what they normally make for the boat seats and sent it out. Had to cut it out and refiberglass what I needed. Talked to the owner, and because it wasn't on the crappy invoice that she sent she wouldn't offer any money back. She did refund the $400 for the windows...that I found on Amazon for half the price.

We bought one, based off old company reviews and I HATE IT! Lady was very unprofessional, lies to you and makes excuses... crap boat seat and screws the whole thing, I don’t agree that the fiberglass company does a good job. If they were a good company they would make a good product and charge her more, very expensive crap! It’s not a good company, please don’t buy from them!

Lacy, we purchased a sleeper with three seats and paid for them to install and are so upset that we have the same experience as you but we probably paid much more. I had seen your Facebook comment on the sleeper company Facebook before they deleted it. On the outside from the side of the truck our sleeper doesn't look half bad. If you look closely it is embarrassing and sad. The owner is a liar, making excuses, and very unprofessional. We knew they were boat seats before making the purchase so we chose the upgraded boat seats. The seats are not a problem for us. However, everything else about the fiberglass sleeper is a huge problem for us. This was a huge ripoff by both the sleeper company and the fiberglass company. It seems they are in it together only to make a huge profit no matter what crappy product they give the customer. All the windows and doors and brake light leaks water. They claim to have used some tape but they neglected to use any sealant around anything. They left holes in the fiberglass. And they didn't seal the seam of the top to the bottom. The fiberglass company didn't have the correct installation hardware due to the sleeper company not mentioning the type of truck we have to the fiberglass company. They ended up jerry rigging the sleeper to the truck and leaving it unsafe. We paid for windows they didn't install. We paid for electrical work that was not done. And we paid for a sleeper that ended up being 3 inches shorter in depth and the wrong length measurements than our purchase order. The seats were installed in such a way that there is absolutely ZERO leg or foot room for any of the kids. Though there are three seats, only one kid could actually sit in the thing if it were not leaking. It has been under tarp since the leaks have caused extensive damage to the interior wood seat frame and flooring. Neither the sleeper company nor the fiberglass company will take responsibility for their terrible service. It seems like a big scam. The fiberglass company owner says that the sleeper company We Dream LLC moved from Texas to Georgia to North Carolina needing to move due to the customer complaints they received and litigations against them. He says they keep setting up new social media pages because they get too many of the same complaints. It amazes me that they still work with her based on what they know. But then again there are similar problems with them too. Neither the sleeper company nor the fiberglass company honor manufacture and installation defects and errors. They cut tons of corners and leave you with a botched up addition that lessens the value and safety of the truck. After dropping a down payment which the sleeper company owner originally said was "lost", we paid for our truck to be modified to fit the sleeper so there was no turning back. When we picked up the sleeper we noticed the issues and explained them to the sleeper company and fiberglass company but they made excuses. They changed my install date so many times that it was so difficult to arrange the install and they did it on a day that the shop would be closed the next day so I couldn't take it back. We reached out ongoing to both companies but they make excuses and blame their poor performance on the customer and the manufacturer of the parts. We Dream LLC ended up blaming the Triad Fiberglass company. Triad Fiberglass company blamed We Dream LLC and the manufacturer of the windows and doors. We Dream LLC has a consultant ["fiberglass engineer"] just a former fiberglass employee that calls you to place the blame on you the customer to try to take all the liability off them. After that, they refuse to respond and ignore customer messages, calls, and emails. At the end of the day after you dropped thousands of dollars you are left with a seeming worthless pice of junk that would take up unnecessary space at a junk yard unless you pay to re-do.

No. We actually sold the truck with the cab. We didn’t add anything but if we would have kept it, we would have installed some sort of barrier.

Unfortunately, the alternative option fell through. At one point, we were going to start our own cab company focusing solely on full time traveling/RV families. We did some ground work for the concept but we couldn’t find the right partners to get it off the ground. Additionally, there was the fact that we gave a review on this company/cab. We didn’t want to give the appearance that we gave the review, only to drive people to our own product. After some careful thought, we decided not to move forward.

I have a DOT Cowtown sleeper and I was also misled on the fact that there was an installation charge. Plus after six weeks I began to have water leaks. Cowtown sleepers are junk and their business practices border on fraud. I would never buy another sleeper from them.

After I’ve seen the lack of quality and spoken to 3 other families with similar experiences, I’d probably get a used Honda Of Note: one of the biggest factors that would prevent me from doing this again, is the fact that no one can tell me if the cab is actually street legal for kids to ride in. I’ve looked at federal regulations and talked to lawyers and no one can give me a straight answer. The seat belts used in this cab build were the cheapest, Chinese built, belts and I’m not certain that they are anchored properly. I’d also like to be transparent: I believe at the time that we purchased our cab, the owner had no clue about how these things were built. I’m not certain that she intentionally mislead us. I think she just didn’t know squat about her product and there was a serious lack of communication between, the owner, the manufacture, and the customer. She has since sent us a “ Cease And Desist Letter” demanding that we remove this video and our blog post review. Um...that’s going to be a fat negative ghost rider. So...that was a long winded answer to your question. For my wife and I, knowing what we know now, we would have just gotten an older Honda Odyssey instead of a Cowtown sleeper.

I'm so thankful you guys made this honest review! We purchased a sleeper with three seats from this company and this was one of the biggest sunk cost purchases ever made. I do not recommend buying from We Dream LLC dba Cowtown Sleepers. We researched for over a year different companies for seating and sleepers and found a handful of companies we considered doing business with. This company seemed to have the best price in comparison. However, looking back in hindsight, that is not the case. What you get for the price is nowhere near worth the cost and grief. We are military veterans and were under the impression that We Dream LLC dba Cowtown Sleepers was owned and operated by a military veteran and therefore a military veteran friendly company. This is not the case. The owner may have been in the military but she is not military nor veteran friendly. We are USAF combat veterans and she takes advantage of military veterans more than anything else. She claims to have a military veteran discount, but it is instead of the installation discount and is capped at $500 and if she gives it to you, she will add a line item of other miscellaneous expenses worth $500 that you have to pay. It is false advertising and there is no military veteran discount. She moves numbers around so you will always pay the same ripoff price. The owner was always confusing in emails. Anyways, what a terrible experience and waste of time and money. Our truck has been parked for so long since there is no back window and our truck was modified for this sleeper thing. There is so much damage to both our truck and the sleeper from their incompetence and neglect. When they installed the sleeper they didn't use the correct hardware, nor did they have any know how. They started trying to make holes in the frame but then changed their minds and left the frame damaged. We had a long drive back but not as long as yours. Halfway back, the sleeper slid into the cab and damaged both the truck and the sleeper paint. BY God's grace the sleeper didn't fly off the truck! God have mercy on us all. Right now everything is a mess, tons of water damage to sleeper and truck. No help from We Dream, nor Triad Fiberglass. Very sad and concerning since we are out money and now an operational truck.

You are not alone! Have you thought about a lawsuit against them? We met a family yesterday that had the same experience and they are filing a suit. The lady from cowtown texted them right before they got there to say the paint wasn't dry and not to come after they had drove 12+hrs. Poor quality, the seats were to big and the kids had no room for feet. In the end they are out $6k and she refused to refund the money.

It did have lap seatbelts. It did not have any sort of roll bar. It’s literally just fiberglass shaped from a mold. We recently sold the truck and let the cab go with it. The family who purchased it planned to use it as simply extra storage when they go on road trips.

Wow, this was a great review. A little bit of legal warning, (even though I'm not a lawyer), I would be careful about saying anything about "removing or cutting off any screws" in the cab. If you question the road worthiness and drivable safety for your children, and Godforbid if something were to happen, the Cowtown company could have a legal stance to say that you "tampered" with the structural viability of their product and you could potentially lose a lawsuit. I hate that you spent so much money on an inferior product. But publicly trashing the company, while announcing that you're starting your own sleeper cab company might seem a bit disingenuous....just saying.

Actually, I think they would be ok. He did not remove any screws he just cut of the protruding head. That in no way would affect the structural viability of the product. If anything, in the case of an accident where the protruding screws caused bodily harm, he might have a case! Also, they didn't trash the company, they actually showed the problems. So regardless if they announced they were starting their own company, they showed actual issues and didn't just trash them publically.

If you have any type of back-and-forth email or text messages with this person on how you want your stuff then I would actually take them to court small claims court and you'll be will get some of your money back he got shoddy workmanship and it leaks everywhere they obviously do not care about customer service or quality of product take them to small claims court The only way there gonna stop doing business that way when people start suing them

This is truly disappointing! It appears on the surface to be a great option for adding some seating to the truck. However, I will say, your customer service complaints appear to be on the money. I reached out on facebook simply asking about safety of the cab and received a rather snarky response. Extremely unprofessional, right off the bat ... Joshua Shirley that’s exactly how every response was that we received. I recently received an email from the owner and she was upset that we wrote about our experience on our blog. We told her in advance that we would be documenting our experience and sharing with our KZbin subscribers. She still did not make an effort to correct the customer service. I'm with you they are junk my story is worse than your story please look at your bolts holding your sleeper on your truck I almost lost my sleeper the bolts came out sleeper came loose hit my fifth wheel hitch it was pouring rain the inside seat got wet leak from day one and she wanted pictures had to remove hitch on side of road to haul sleeper back home really really pissed off she did absolutely nothing

Wow that thing looks like a real piece of sh.it. I was going to buy one, now im not. Ill make my own before paying top dollar for garbage like that. They should have at least carpeted the interior. You could also just chop a topper and build a rear facing wall. I believe that's the direction I will go

Unfortunately, we did not notice the issues until we were halfway across the country. And we had no option. We were having a baby a few weeks after this and we had to have seating for all of our kids...or we would have had to buy another vehicle. We had already paid a non-refundable deposit so even though we were not happy with the unit, our hand was forced due to the situation.

Hi, this happened a few years ago. If you are looking for one of these extensions, it might be worth it to see if all the issues have been resolved. There were several customers that had similar issues. However, by now, the owner of the company may have ironed out the problems that we mention in the video. Also, I was never able to determine with 100% accuracy if these passenger cabs are actually legal in all 50 states.

Man forget about the shotty craftsmanship, you are sticking children in the bed of your truck! You get in a crash and they're dead, no actual safety restrains, no airbags. Dude, you're pulling a motorhome, put your kids in that! You bought something that wouldn't serve your purpose even if it was built up to your high standards.

Omg I get what you're saying, but you're a little over the top. Most back seats (except for very new stuff) don't have airbags anyways. The cab is fiberglass, the same material that the tops for thousands of Jeeps, Broncos and Blazers were made from for the passenger areas. It's not as good as OEM, but it's not exactly "riding in the bed" either. And if you have seen the structure of a motorhome or fifth wheel trailer like you recommend having the kids ride in, you'd understand that is an even worse recommendation imho.

@@scubasteve7946 The difference between those old truck tops and RVs/campers vs this is that all those have frames to protect from a roll over. This doesn't appear to have one and ifnit does, it surely can't hold the weight of the truck like the cab can. Side airbags in the back isn't entirely new, my 2011 F150 has them, and that's the small extended cab as well. Also, and maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like the seatbelts in it connect with a structural part of the truck, meaning a big enough impact could rip them right off their anchor points. This whole thing seems very sketchy and doesn't look like it has DOT approval in any state. This is very much the same as ratchet strapping two seats into the bed, only difference is you don't get wind in your face with this.

I don’t know about scammed but definitely mislead. I think we were a little too eager to get this thing and we dropped the ball on our “due diligence.” That’s why we made this video so others would know what kind of business this is.
