@wyomingpredatorhuntsllc7 жыл бұрын
Not stupid at all, we skin our coyotes and sell the fur to a buyer in our area who turns and sells them to his buyers to turn into coats etc. We also have bounties in various counties around here that pay for a set of ears, dew claws etc. because the populations are so high.
@tylercrisp38767 жыл бұрын
Nice shot dude. I’m pretty sure the only reason he got up after that head shot was his natural fight or flight response kicking in. He was most likely dead when he got up. Just like chickens run around when their heads are cut off.

I have to admit watching that dog get up after taking a hollow point to the face shook me up. Just goes to show, if you hunt long enough anything can happen. Either way good hunting to you. Keep whack'n and stack'n. Here in North Carolina where I'm from the coyotes don't that big or that furred up so we just shoot them for pest control. I bet that dog skinned out real nice though.
@wyomingpredatorhuntsllc7 жыл бұрын
Coyotes are very tough animals.. we always try our best to get them killed as quickly as possible but as any hunter knows that doesn't always happen and quick follow up shots are sometimes necessary. They have great fur over here where we are! We are lucky. Thanks and good luck to you!

I had the same thing happen to me, I dug into it a bit and found my bullet went in under the eye socket and around the brain exiting out the neck. .243 less that 100 yds. Floored me when he stood back up.
@tonyascaso62547 жыл бұрын
Did the bullet not expand correctly, or just fall apart when it struck the hard cranium. Shot a lot of coyotes with the 22-250, and found that chest shots were effective, but always liked the effect of the 30-06 firing 110gr HP at maximum speed, they never move after getting 'touched' by those nasty little bullets.

There are much more effective ways to live alongside coyotes that don’t involve mass slaughter. By taking a more pragmatic approach, farmers and ranchers can show these hunters that killing is not the answer. This Gift that Gives More helps teach farmers and ranchers a plethora of practices to peacefully coexist with predator species Coyotes are a predator species. They tend to eat small animals, like gophers and frogs. A pair or group of coyotes might go after a small deer in the winter, but will eat fruits and berries in the summer and fall. Livestock is not typically even on a coyote’s menu
@rbm61847 жыл бұрын

Run a bright orange collar or vest if you are worried. The vest will keep the dog's chest from getting scraped to hell and no one will shoot orange. Like Snipers said we can tell the difference pretty easily.

Wow! I've been hunting predators for 11 years. That was one of the most inhumane shots I've ever seen. We as hunters have a responsibility to dispatch the animals we hunt as ethically as possible. Really disappointed guys...
@wyomingpredatorhuntsllc7 жыл бұрын
JR Marshall sorry to hear that JR. You must be a damn good shot if you have never had to follow up on a coyote in 11 years of hunting. Or maybe you just don't get as many opportunities as we do? Especially one that was moving and wouldn't stop. It's our job as conservationists to help keep the predator populations in check. This was a mature alpha male that had seen a thing or two and killed a few fawns and calves in his time. We always look to make the quickest and cleanest kills possible on every animal we shoot but as any hunter knows sometimes that doesn't happen and you have to overcome that adversity and get the job done in a different way. We won't apologize for any shot we've taken and we will answer for each one when the time comes. Thanks for watching.
@jrmarshall7897 жыл бұрын
Coyote Snipers My comment was less about follow up shots, and more about shot placement. My marksmanship has no bearing on this conversation. There is no need to be smug. Shooting an animal in the head is notoriously risky. I am aware that there is an inherent risk of missing your intended target when shooting at an animal. However, you compound the risk by choosing a small target in less than ideal conditions. I suppose something could be said about the pelt getting damaged if you would have shot the animal in the center of the chest. To be fair, the majority of my predator hunting experience has been helping ranchers on the properties that I lease from them. I have never been overly concerned with the pelts. I am aware that there are some individuals that do harvest animals with the express intention of selling the pelt. It is not my intention to denigrate those who do. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, if you lack confidence on a particular shot, It is ok to not take the shot. It's not about being the best shot. A big part of being an ethical hunter is not all about the shots you do take, sometimes it's about the shots you don't take. You guys have a global platform here on KZbin. The reputation of the hunting and shooting sports that we all love rest squarely on your shoulders, and other channels like yours. It is my ardent hope that what we do is represented in a positive light, and that we all remember to lead by example. Hopefully this will draw new enthusiastic people to the sport, and less negative stereotypes. I wish y'all the best on your endeavors. Thanks for your time.
