25+ years ago, I shot 82 woodchucks one summer in upstate NY with a WInchester 22mag lever. One thing I learned: if you hear the thud, it's a hit for sure. Bank on it. "Peee-sheeee-eeewww.......plump"= hit. "Peee=sheee-eeewww" no plump= miss.

You did a good job for the male and you see that the female would circle back to see what happened to her mate, for this is the reason why she surprised you. And know you know the old ways of a hunter. Love your vids young man. Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.

Just awesome! To see 3 coming in must be such a rush! You mentioned you were having a little trouble with the legs of ya tripod sinking down into the snow well I always had the same issue and of course we have much more snow than you guys but what I did was put a strap/belt, from one leg to the other at the very base of my legs on my tripod, (with about an inch pushed through to stick into the snow) it which works, not allowing the legs to sink deep into the snow. I will show it in my next coyote video. Love ya videos!

Sorry to comment again, but those were big coyotes.. I've not seen any here that big.. Here in Southern Indiana.. I'm sure we have them that size, but I've not personally seen any that big. I had a DNR Biologist tell me one of the biggest ever found was dead of natural causes and died in Indianapolis.. Right at the edge of town and had been eating out of garbage cans most of it's life.. Thanks brother.. You're a good shot man!

Another great video. I have often wondered if it would better to take the farthest one first, especially with the suppressor, then you might get the closer ones to stop within a good range. Just wondering.. Good job.
@wisconsincoyotecallin8620 Жыл бұрын
That's a hot topic everyone has different opinions on! I think it's a good idea. But I also like taking the closer one for better footage and a higher percentage shot! Usually if there is enough open ground you can get em to stop either way! Especially when you dump the close one because the others are looking to see where he/she is at!

Great fliming man and great hunting.. Is that a Tikka rifle may I ask? What caliber and what Leupold scope you using may I ask? I love your video's brother.. Been watching a lot.. I'm 62 and retiring soon. I used to hunt them badk in the 80's and 90's and I used a .223 or .22.250 or 243 and Leupold straight 12 power scope mostly with a .22.250 Ruger Number 1 varmint.. Single shot.. It was tough if you had to get a second shot, but that was rare.. Thanks man..

Personal opinion from an old coyote hunter......... I realize that you are talking quietly, and want to explain things to your viewers. But IMHO, all of that talking before actually beginning with the call, should have been done at the vehicle. Every word you uttered as you walked in and set up, gave an extra 1% (per word) of advantage to any coyote nearby.
@wisconsincoyotecallin8620 Жыл бұрын
I will kindly disagree! I make hundreds of stands a year! My camera mic makes it sound wayyyy louder than what it is in person...if you were standing 100 yards away you wouldn't even hear me...also, if a coyote is that close to hear me talk quietly, then they are already close enough to be watching me walk in and would be gone anyway! The crunchy snow and my movement would spook any coyotes that would hear me talk! I'm as careful as any guy could be when entering a stand. Most of the people I take along think im too careful! I'm constantly telling peeps to be quiet, close the doors softly, and watch their movement on stand..I probably sound like an asshole! Lol
@willhorting5317 Жыл бұрын
@@wisconsincoyotecallin8620 sir, I wasn't trying to upset you. So I apologize that I did. I also was unaware of the sensitivity of your microphone, so I stand corrected. In the video, it seemed like you were talking loudly enough to be carrying on a conversation with someone nearby. That was entirely MY mistake. As I say, I know nothing about your microphone, so I apologize. I did probably sound rude in my previous comment. However, that certainly was never my intent. I was simply trying to be helpful. As for you making hundreds of stands a year, I applaud you for doing so. Before health issues cut short my ability to get out and hunt, I used to make hundreds of stands every year... just like you. For many years. Although I am not going to edit or delete my previous comment.... Again sir, I apologize for my mistakes about the sensitivity of your microphone and the loudness of your voice. I hope you will accept my apology.
@wisconsincoyotecallin8620 Жыл бұрын
@Will Horting no worries man! I wasn't upset or offended...just letting you know that im pretty confident it doesn't affect the hunt..you are not the first person to comment on me and talking loudly on stand...I've had to explain to many people that my mic enhances it greatly! I'm sorry you aren't able to still get out there and hunt! Hopefully these types of videos bring you some joy and relive some of your past hunts!!!

@@wisconsincoyotecallin8620 yes, I am currently living vicariously through videos. I still have the desire. I still have all of my hand calls and equipment. Because in the back of my mind, I keep telling myself that I will be able to get out again. But if I can't, I have had my run. I started hunting coyotes in 1972.
