OhMyGosh, that den has amazing potential. Great idea to remove the wall shared with the kitchen. Perhaps a cased opening with molding. It will bring more light into the kitchen and give you the opportunity to expand it if you choose. How about moving the large pine cabinet into the den/kitchen area for more storage? I look forward to watching your progress. ❤

Oh I love that room. Any space with a fireplace is my kinda room. When you open that up to expand your kitchen, well the ideas are endless. You could put a fireplace insert, propane or electric, if you can’t burn wood.

it really has all the makings of a great and wonderful room! The only thing is Rocky should get to sleep in the house. could you imagine sleeping in the garage when your family is in the house. buy him a big ole bed and be sweet to him. he’s part of your family too. Does smokey sleep in?

I think the German shmere process on your fireplace looks beautiful! You cover it up with stuff and don’t get a chance to really see it! Clear all that stuff away and you will have a chance to view it clearly and see just how beautiful it looks👍 I can’t believe you keep this cozy beautiful Fireplace room as a storage catch all, as small as your living room is and you are always saying that, you need to clear it out and let your family use it as it was meant to be used for.

Cute room! So much potential! When you showed the little step, I thought how cute it would be if the step was a brick step to tie in the brick on the FP and to also help people SEE the step and not trip/fall into the room. Being the same color it’s easy to miss the step. Excited to see the transformation! 🤩

Oh, I love the fireplace the way it is. He did a good job. I think it looks awesome. Your idea of putting two chairs there in a table facing the fireplace would be so cozy. A small settee or sofa would be pretty backed up to the two chairs. The back wall opposite of the fireplace then would be great to put that hutch you have in the living room you’re wanting to move. Just some ideas …❤

The view of the outdoors is lovely. Have you ever used Mineral Fusion paint? I love the color Lichen. Soft green taupe. How exciting, I’ve was just thinking about this room. I remember you mentioning a den awhile back and wondered about it. Get a vent cover before someone breaks an ankle. I’ve been working on my house and only have the living room to deep clean. My sunroom is all sliding doors and I’m always cleaning the rails. It’s six large sliding doors and one side has an extra permanent door. Cannot wait to see the progress in your fireplace room. Take care ~ Janet 🤭

Good morning Sarah, Your home is an Aladdin’s cave, with all sorts of treasures hidden out of sight. Are you getting tired of decorating, after so many big projects? Or are you the type of person that enjoys the challenge of creating beautiful spaces? It is mortar that is "smeared "on the brick to add texture, camouflage, visual interest and/or old world charm. It is similar to how you would use paint to whitewash something [if you have heard of that].

Sarah, for all that you are always saying that you are careful about money, and are frugal about spending, you sure have a LOT of hoarded stuff in that "fireplace' room, worth lots of money. You are SO lucky that your husband has a great job and he can help bankroll your lifestyle. Why show all your wealth when you know people are struggling with groceries?
