I hope you get a chance to try the soup. And thank you for checking on me over my surgery. I don't quite have full mobility but I can get around. Anxious for the day when I don't have to be careful with every step. I sure appreciate your kindness.

It's been 80 degrees consistently here in East TN, so christmas is not on my radar quite yet. I'm praying for some cool weather soon! I'm from Buffalo, NY, so this is bananas to me! Your chairs are precious! I have the white ones in my kitchen, but the green may come to my dining room. Love the placemats.

I love your design style so much! Simple yet welcoming and comfortable. Love the quilt around the tree. ..I'm using that idea for my own home! I too, am a lover of shades of blue. Can't wait to see the basement.
@TIDBITSandCompany10 күн бұрын
Hi Cecil! If you love blue you are going to love our basement. I can't wait to finish it and share all the details. We need more time in the day. Ha! Thank you for your sweet words and I am delighted that you are going to use the quilt around the tree idea. I have made or bought tree skirts before, but prefer the quilt. It just feels fuller and cozier.

I was surprised to see the snow already! I’m not quite ready for snow myself, but I guess I had better get ready. The table scape turned out so homey and pretty, I love it! The basement sneak peek has me wanting more, it looks so pulled together and nice. I can’t wait to see what all you e done down there! The tomato soup was a great idea to use up the last of the garden veggies. Thanks for the tip about the herbs. I’ll have to try it, I’ve been eyeing the last of my tomatoes and wondering what I will do with them.

I like your tablescape. I'm all for simplicity.. either way looks great.. although i do like the added pop of green. The last several years I've used paper plates and a brown butcher paper for a tablecloth.. it doesn't take away from the holiday vibe.. it can look charming , its easy no fuss set up, clean up, its all good. No one cares..

I love the green placemats and chairs, but maybe a golden colored ribbon. It would be great if it was a golden gingham.

Right when I read your suggestion, I knew you were right! Golden gingham would tie the centerpiece together perfectly, where the greens were fighting against each other. You are brilliant! Thank you! Off to look for some.

I like the simplicity of the rustic table without the green placemats. It’s to crowded with 5he table runner. Also, please use real plates for a special occasion.
@maryoleary203710 күн бұрын
Please don't use paper plates for Thanksgiving. We only have a few special dinners a year...therefore let's keep it special. I assume you have a dishwasher, so do use real plates.
@meml776210 күн бұрын
There is nothing wrong with using paper plates! I don't have glass plates, for me the most important thing is to celebrate the occasion and have a good time with my family. I have a big family and friends who come for Thanksgiving.👍🏼
@maryoleary203710 күн бұрын
@@meml7762 I beg to differ; there is a lot wrong with using paper plates. It impacts on the environment as disposables go into the land fill. The purchase is a waste of money that could be spent on other things. Many paper plates are unstable to support food, especially if gravy is involved. It diminishes the occasion to a picnic, not one of the most important dinners of the year. The gracious things in life have gone down the tube. To me it seems ridiculous to prepare a big, fancy meal and then reduce it by using disposable plates. It is rather like wearing a ballgown and having flip flops on your feet. For Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and family birthdays, I go all out. This means serving the special meals on real plates. Martha Steward would say, "It's a good thing!"
@cynthiafisher990710 күн бұрын
@@maryoleary2037Trees are grown to make paper, there is little impact on the environment, they are biodegradable. I think it’s fine that you want to make holidays special. However, your tone comes across as very controlling and judgmental. It’s ok for other people to enjoy their holidays in the ways that are meaningful to them.
@TIDBITSandCompany10 күн бұрын
Thanks for your perspective! Definitely pondering on it. We usually have about 50 adults and kids, and that does make for a lot of dishes!!!
@maryoleary203710 күн бұрын
@@cynthiafisher9907 Not sure how giving my reasons for not using paper plates can be controlling and judgmental. It is an opinion, not a command or protest. Also, yes, paper is biodegradable, but paper plates are coated with a thin film of chemicals or plastic, to make them more durable and stop food oil from dissolving them during use. The production process for certain plate coatings uses polymers and toxic chemicals like BPA, phthalates, benzene, and even formaldehyde. Most recycling plants do not recycle coated paper plates, as it becomes difficult and incredibly energy inefficient to separate the plastic from the paper. Just because the initial source of paper plates uses trees, the manufacturing process does not make them natural, or good for people or the environment.
