I am so glad you have the same perspective on scary books. While I do love scary movies, it took me a long time to enjoy them even though I was reading so much horror. I agree that my brain just doesn't allow myself to get that creative with imagining super dark and scary scenes. I have tried to explain this and people usually look at me like I am crazing 😅

I am very similar with I can read some scary stuff, but I can’t watch anything remotely scary. For me it is because of the visuals. I can’t imagine visuals in my brain so when I read I don’t see the action happen I just hear the voice in my head reading it. But in movies it’s all visual.

I'm the same with scary books vs movies. Can't handle jump scares I'm pathetic when it comes to horror films I can't sleep for weeks if I watch one , but I l really love a creepy atmosphere , so books are the perfect media when I want to consume a horror/thriller.

I’m like that with scary movies. I can read about a werewolf transformation easily but put one in front of me on TV and I’m like, no thanks! If it’s in front of you, you can’t avoid it but if you’re reading it you can at least imagine it to your fear capabilities.

I'm the same way with scary stuff! I love horror books and will read them in any season, any time of day, but when it comes to horror movies if I'm not watching with a group of people who have seen the movie before (that is essential because I need someone to tell me when scary things will happen) and a pillow to hide my face in at the jump scares, I will not watch it lmao

I think scary movies or podcasts can be even scarier because of all the jump scares (i.e. you either see them or hear them)... so I see why you can't watch scary movies 😊
