I'm 50% into the audiobook for My Best Friend's Exorcism and it is, so far, just so frustrating. Like I am so frustrated at the adults in the book and it is such a perfect blend of Satanic Panic and The War on Drugs. I kind of love it for that. It reminds me so much of being a child in the late 80s early 90s in a household where all the adults I knew still loved Reagan.

So excited you're watching one piece! I recommend checking out one pace, it's an edited version to match the pace of the manga so all the filler scenes are taken out. I finished mexican gothic this week myself! Once I hit that reveal I couldn't stop and had to stay up to finish it!

Another fantastic reading vlog! My Best Friends Exorcism is definitely my least favorite Grady Hendrix. It was still enjoyable, but not in the same way as his other books. I think you might really like “A Head Full of Ghosts” by Paul Tremblay! It’s scary and definitely has the fall vibes, but it’s not too disturbing. Very strong writing, very thought provoking, and reads super fast.

While overall it is a fun pirate story, if you stick with One I think you’ll really enjoy all the politics, world building, and social commentary. Completely worth the journey.

My Best Friends Exorcism is one of my all time favorite books, and I hated Mexican Gothic!! lol funny we had such opposite opinions on these two. I mostly read horror, and I think I have recently realized Gothic horror is not for me, I always find them too slow and boring. My favorite aspect about My Best Friends Exorcism is definitely the girls friendship, and the setting of being a misunderstood teenager. It reminded me a lot of my female friendships growing up, that book has a special place in my heart!
