Is that why I passed 3 people scrambling to park and setup their cameras at Plessis & Gunn? One guy parked on the shoulder AND ran across the road. Seemed like a couple bad decisions 🙄

Wow, they actually did that? I just stay on sidewalks because I don’t wanna get hurt and look like an idiot, can’t believe however did that.

@@ThePrairiesRailfan yeah I might even have it on my dashcam unless it was overwritten already lol. I'm in my mid-40s and my dad's a retired Locomotive engineer, and The house I grew up in backed on to the CN main line in mission gardens. Trains are cool and all but I've never understood how people can be THAT interested in trains. But I guess there's a hobby for everything. I just feel like it's gone overboard the past decade or two. Anyway stay safe!

@@ThePrairiesRailfan Yeah I've been aware of railfanning for a long time and I get the allure, but It used to be a really small niche of mostly older guys I believe, But I think social media has definitely widened that group. I saw the clip of the derailment. Haven't read a whole lot about it but that guy is clearly unhinged. Sorry it's giving your hobby a bad name. I can see how this might cause sweeping changes to enforcement by the rail police etc. These giant corporations keep growing and merging, and the laws were already super strict, but I bet a new form of viral police videos will soon surface with people interacting with rail police. My dad was a health and safety union rep for many years as well, and I used to help him with his computer stuff all the way back to the early 90s lol. I've seen so many different topics regarding running trade employees, although I can't remember ever seeing any about trespassing or whatever.
