On question #8, the AMA CPT 2021 book states that the procurement of the saphenous vein graft is include in the description of work for codes 33510-33516. Why would we use an add on code for harvesting that vein? Thank you in advance.

If you listen to what I said in question 8 again, you will hear that "Harvesting of A SAPHENOUS VEIN to be used for bypass in included in codes 33510-33516. Harvesting of OTHER VEINS (ex. Upper extremity vein) is not bundled or included. And below are the add codes that I want you to write it down in your note or next to the coronary artery bypass codes just in case you need it: 35500 (upper extremity vein), 35572 (femoropopliteal vein) and 35600 (upper extremity artery). I hope it helps.

Hi Hoang love your videos and thank you so much for your commitment in helping future coders like me in learning how to code. In my 2022 CPT book when I lookup Insertion Pacemaker, Heart it directs me to see Pacemaker and it stops right there. Its like a stop sign and a dead end and no where to turn. This is a problem I have when looking up CPT codes. Do you have any suggestions?

You should watch my video "how to code cardiac devices" and jot down the groups of codes for initial insertion, replacement and upgrade categorized by device types: pacemaker, AICD and CPT-P, CRT-D. If you use CPT book and look up codes for these procedure, you will never get it right. I speak from my own experience. Good luck!

It is just my typo mistake. You can tell by looking at the question, C has 93564 and not 93464. Also, if you open your CPT book and look up this code 93564 is an add code for selective bypass graft angiogram.

If you read the code description, you can tell it is my typo mistake. It should be +33508 add on code for endoscopy harvest of vein and not 35508. I hope it helps.

Hi Aparna. Open you CPT book and look at those indented codes that I listed in my slides and see it for yourself. To save space in CPT some descriptions are not printed in their entirely next to a code or number so the indented code includes all the information from the code above. Check it out.
