An incarcerated hernia, also called non-reducible, is a hernia where the contents cannot be reduced. A strangulated hernia is a more severe condition where the blood supply to the incarcerated part of the intestine or trapped tissue is cut off. In the question they will mention whether it is incarcerated or strangulated.
