At the time of this video Cedar Park's marching director was on Carolina Crown staff and the assistant marching director was on Madison Scouts staff. Starting in 2013 both the marching director and assistant are from the Madison Scouts staff.

You guys are a great, great band. you deserved first place for sure, Im from the waxahachie band and my band director would always tell us " If you guys wanna know my definition of "good" go watch Cedar park, That's how good you need to be to compete at the top level" see you guys next year ;)

I just wanted to say that i think in the BOA San Antonio finals you were one of the only if not the only band without any props..... good job! ~Air Academy High School Marcher, Colorado (band that went on right after you in prelims at BOA SA)

Thank you pickles 1447. The band competed at BOA Grand Nationals in 2010, finishing 10th in finals. The band swept the 3-A division at the San Antonio Super Regional in 2011 and finished 6th in finals. The band finished 4th in finals and won division 3-A at the Conroe Regional in 2011. The band concentrated on the UIL championship this season and isn't competing at Grand Nationals this year.

I was talking to my friend the other day and was telling her how Cedar Park moved down to a 4a. I said they they were a continuous participant in the 5a state marching and have made the finals most of the time and even placed too, i would not be surprised if they had gotten 1st. At that moment i decided to look up the results of the 4a stat marching (had not been paying much attention to the contest this year), i was not surprised.

I remember seeing this band at a USSBA competition back in October of 2009. They kicked everyone's ass!

Several current and former members of the Cedar Park Band march in world class corps around the country, including San Antonio based Crossmen, Carolina Crown, Madison Scouts and Santa Clara Vanguard among others.

I'm pretty sure Cedar Park has several staff members who were affiliated with Carolina Crown in more recent years. It doesn't surprise me that they both would use similar music.

Texas has 5 classifications - 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A, based on school size. Cedar Park won the 4A division. The 5A division is the most competitive, but Cedar Park is strong enough that it would be a finalist in that division, but probably not top 5.

When I made my first comment, I was referring to the state of bands today. The posts challenging my statement, invoking both 2008 and 2010, are non-sequiturs. As of today, Cedar Park, IMHO, is not one of the top 5 marching bands in Texas anymore. In 2011, Bell, Bowie, Marcus, and Woodlands beat them at every single contest.

This true. But, we didn't actually get good until 2 weeks before state. I'm not saying you are wrong, because I have my doubts too, but we didn't get a chance to compete against them at the end of the season at our peak. But, who knows? Definitely not me.

@euphdude123 Its a good one at that. A band without props is one that carries visual points in skill and form. Just because you managed to get a huge fairground on the field doesn't mean you are the best, just means you have money.

Had Bowie competed last year, Cedar Park would have gotten sixth. This year will be especially tough at San Antonio. Several other schools have placed ahead of Cedar Park at the other BOA regionals - Cedar Ridge, Vandegrift, Round Rock, Hebron. They'll make finals, but may place somewhere in the 8-12 range.

Bell, Bowie, Marcus, and Woodlands beat Cedar Park at every competitiion in 2011 - Bell and Bowie 3 times, Woodlands and Marcus twice. CT Johnson and Cedar Park split - Cedar Park one place higher in Conroe, and Johnson one place higher at the super regional. I still say Cedar Park would be finalist for 5A, but probably not top 5. BTW - one reason CT Johnson is such a hot program is because they lured away Cedar Park's entire percussion staff a few years ago.
