Thank you for these lecture series! I just wanted to confirm what was said towards the end. Is it friction or is it the weight that supports lowering the load?

its not friction that is helping for lowering but its a lead (l) which has reduced the F for lowering as seen from the equation.. also you can imagine that if pich angle is high l will be high and the F for lowering will be reduced...
