I met Jesse when he was the mayor of Brooklyn Park, MN. People have always tended to underestimate him, he's intelligent, educated , principled and isn't afraid to say things as he sees it. I remember when he was running for Governor, people didn't think he had a real chance. He's a brilliant debater, which I believe won the people of Minnesota over, and when the smoke cleared, he was Governor of Minnesota. If the Democrats and Republicans would let him on the debate stage, it would be real interesting to see the support he could garner on a possible White House run. I do disagree strongly with his stance on gun control, too many innocent are dying each year because of gun violence. Thoughts and prayers aren't cutting it anymore. We need to ban gun lobbyist money in government, and evaluate assault weapons in this country and the need for the aveage citizen to own them. The 2nd ammendment states a "Well regulated Militia", it was not intended for the ordinary citizen. Military and law enforcement use, fine. We need to find a concrete solution to the world worst gun problem.

Jesse is great. The only point Morgan could arguably beat him on is his gun stance. I work in the police in the UK, and have always said that if the people I dealt with were armed, it would be horrendous. I think Americans. are so used to having guns, they can't see the argument against. Having said that, this man would make the most honest presidential candidate ever. And instead you have Trump. It's not that we're so used to having them that we don't want to hear otherwise, but that America was founded in such a way that it belongs to the people, not the government. However, over the last hundred years or so our government has slowly tightened it's grip on the population, and after 9/11 the Patriot Act was put in place, giving them free reign to invade the privacy of every citizen and treat every American as a suspect. Just this comment will have me on a watch list for the rest of my life. Since then, this act has been renewed every year, and their control over the country has grown tremendously. America no longer belongs to the people. Tensions are pretty high around here, with the loss of many of our personal freedoms and abhorrent politicians like Donald Trump and the alleged election fraud and FBI criminal investigation underway for Hillary Clinton, the citizens are already very wary of and frustrated with our government. Now we're nearing a point where the government that has almost completely taken the country away wants the citizens to hand over all weapons. This is why Americans are so adamant about keeping our firearms. They're the only thing left keeping this country free.

America is also a very big country and culturally divided by region as well. I'm from California where gun control is rightfully and strictly enforced and legislated, and we don't allow conceal-carry for ordinary citizens like most states have made legal. I happen to think gun culture is boorish, regressive, and embarrassing, and this country is diseased by its majority of know-nothing hayseeds in the South and Midwest who cling to guns and religion just as Obama once said. As a consequence, along with the insurmountable NRA (pro-gun lobby) influence on our politicians, passing any meaningful federal gun control legislation is forever stymied even after the epidemic of mass shootings. Still, I believe in the validity in our Second Amendment and upholding it, but there is zero justification for interpreting as a free-for-all for Americans to own any kind and any number of freely-owned firearms as they would like. That is ridiculous and the nonsensical arguments employed by "gun rights" enthusiasts, such as that mass shootings or gun violence would be avoided if MORE people had guns, is absolutely ludicrous which is why your comment caught my attention. If there was a psycho who pulled out an AR-15 to open fire in a public place or music venue, does one really believe a bunch of other random strangers with presumably no certified military or police training concealed firearms would PREVENT more casualties or deaths, or futher encourage it during the chaos of confusion? Absurd. Just remember, most of us in California such as in the Bay Area and LA metro area (where I'm from) have little sympathy for "gun rights" and advocate all the time for common sense legislation, control, and enforcement.

Lewis Wilburn you fellows should have guns. I applied for London Metropolitan Police many years ago because my wife is a British citizen. However, one of my friends at that time was the use of force trainer for the Ontario Police College here in Canada here. This fellow also trained some of the forces in Britain and one of the royal bodyguards was his friend. Anyway, he convinced me not to apply to London due to the fact that the cops don’t carry. He stated it was wrong for police officers not to carry, because he felt it was dangerous and unfair. I believe your CID don’t carry either, which is quite strange to me as a Canadian.
