Nice vid Mark 🙌 There’s two other approaches I’ve taken on projects in the past: They are both hybrids of your examples. Hybrid 1. Create say 4 different service page design layouts as templates with dynamic data, add a custom field of ‘Post’ type for the services CPT (so it’s like a relationship you can filter down to Bricks Templates), then each service page lets you choose a service page template from the 4 to use for a given service post. You then use a conditional in each Bricks template to match the value of that custom field to specify when it's used on the front. Hybrid 2. Create a default service page design layout, but save the whole content region as a template you can insert into any Bricks page. Then turn Bricks on for the services CPT. You can then either design a custom page layout for any given service post, or just insert the Template element in bricks and select your ‘default service design’ you saved as a template first. This means your default can still be edited ‘globally’ from the template library without affecting the custom designed service posts. This approach can be handy for sites with a handful of products, but some are special products with their own designs, while the rest use a default product page template. Can do the same for archive pages and other taxonomies too, so there's lots of use cases on the table! Hope this helps get the ‘architecture’ creative juices flowing 🙂 Happy to demo on a Zoom call some time if that would offer you some value Mark.

I'd love to see a super quick video demo of hybrid2, if you're ever so inclined.

A good alternative to having 1 off templates is to use data attributes to hide/show sections. Then its still all controlled from the post itself. :)

Definitely a good solution there as well 👍👍👍

I've got to dive more into data attributes a little more. Would love to see this in action. I want a single thank you page for all sorts of thank you's. Or for confirming for any 1 of 15 lead magnets on a single page. I WILL NOT make 15 Confirmation Pages EVER AGAIN

@@RobCooper would you need to do something creative in the URL to ensure proper analytics with that approach?

Iv used conditions and ACF toggle to mix different bricks sections and posts

Good video Mark. I love the deep dive into a very niche concept, and overview of strategies. You mentioned how using Conditions in a template can get messy quick. I certainly agree, even just in a Header template. I sometimes include a page-title/hero section in the Header template, but need a few versions (tall, short, special, none, etc), and use Conditions to display the right one on the front-end. The hassle is, when editing a normal Page inside Bricks (which also displays the Header), ALL versions of the Hero section display in Bricks, which quickly becomes a cluttered confusing mess. Does anyone know - is there a way to have Bricks evaluate the conditions (for the Header, while editing a particular page) inside the editor?

Yea that's a good question. I haven't explored the data attributes that some others have mentioned in the comments. That might be the way to go.

Additionally, you could just exclude the services that need to be unique from using the template. With Bricks as an editing option, you get the best of both.

Why not make multiple templates for one custom post with he option to select the template you want to use for the specific post
@markjszymanski14 күн бұрын
You absolutely could, yea. The way I show in the video would be mainly if you wanted every single to be completely bespoke.
