Jammy: Thats some BS. Intel have had several 6c/12t CPUs for 10 years now on the consumer market (X58 platform). AMD did just "force" Intel to core-up their mainstream platform in late 2017. Its nice to have some higher proccessing power in the low-mid-end mainstream segment now, Thanks to competition. What happened in that segment from 2011 to 2017 was a joke. Sure! But as long as consumers buy it, its better business to save the best stuff for competitive days. Intel actually still competes with the architecture they launched about 5 years ago. They have just refined it with more cores. AMD are the one who has been doing most work in development the past 3-4 years. They needed to do that. Intel did not. They only a year ago bested the IPC on Intels present mainstream architecture. Even though they're on 7nm vs Intels 14nm, they still cant quite compete yet with the frequency/power efficiency that Intel has refined their 14nm silicon to now. Run a i5-10400 vs a r5 3600 at 4GHz. The slight higher IPC from AMD does use more power and runs hotter than the Intel counterpart. But the competition is glowing now. :)

Agree. But Nvidia High-End GPU prices are still a joke. (Because they can sell) AMD has way more fair price/performance ratio on their GPUs. The best Value from Nvidia are the RTX 2060 and 2060 Super. From there on, it gets rediculous with price/performance ratio.

Don't you mean 10 years. Started with core 2 duo in 2006 till early skylake. In that time AMD spent 6 years trying to make phenom and phenom 2 being competitive, and in 2012 ended up going to their server division to use bulldozer and pile driver which were famously worst than the previous gen.

The top range 3rd gen Threadripper would get absolutely obliberated by the top range AMD Epyc processor from 1st gen Zen architecture, forget the new 3rd gen ones. Epyc is AMD's server grade processor range that comes with upto 64 cores and 128 threads with 128 PCIE gen 4 lanes on proprietary motherboards.

The rest is accurate if you include pricing because as far as performance goes, Intel is not outgunned, not even now with 5 year old parts. 10900k is just as good as 3900xt. 10700k likewise with 3700xt. 3950x fights with 10980xe and sure, if you go up the scale to threadripper Intel is indeed outclassed, but in many categories it certainly has similar performance to AMD parts. Sure, pricing is much better for AMD, but performance wise I wouldn't say Intel is getting beat up.

The difference is very small in processing tasks overall and in gaming 10900k is 10% better at least. So how exactly is Intel doomed and overtaken cause I don't get it? As I said, if you factor in prices, yes, there is no competition, AMD is best buy at all price points but performance wise you are lying to yourself. 10900k is up there with the 3900x in the majority of tests. Gaming is below and at 720 where you remove gpu bottlenecks it is 15% better than 3900x Let's for one second be objective. We were discussing here about performance, pure performance. What level of performance you can get from AMD and Intel today and this video tries to create the impression that AMD has had the best performance in the last few years which is simply not the case. AMD has had the best prices per performance in the last year, but was usually the case with AMD, even before Zen, so that is why I am saying that I don't agree that AMD is beating intel, since performance wise they have similar parts and performance up until the threadripper line where indeed Intel has no response.

Кроме той части, где фикус дал в морду ынтолу, в лучшем случае он тягался с i7 в обработке видео (там решают ALU блоки, благо у фикуса их честных 8 штук). В играх фикус стал интересным спустя несколько лет после его выхода, когда в играх подтянули многопоток и появился смысл брать i7 вместо i5 для игр. Вы же помните, как в 2014 рекомендовали выключать HT у i7, чтобы Battlefield 4 более плавно работал? Фикус 8350 в DX12 смог догнать стоковый i7 2600 в Rise of the Tomb Raider, что весьма достойно с учётом его цены. Восстал из мёртвых короче. SkyLake вообще никак не выделяется по сравнению с тем-же бессмерным 2600K. SkyLake (был) хорош для ноутов с низким теплопакетом - завезли 4 ядра наконец-то. ЗЫ: Я сидел на FX-8350, Ryzen 1700 и сейчас на Ryzen 3700X.

@NICULL false Fx8350 had 8 actual integer cores, but only 4 floating point units, 1 fpu packed with 2-integer cores in a module, 4 of them, with dog slow l3 cache bogging it down even further It had NO smt, so the amount of threads can not be more than the amount of cores, zero of the cores were virtual, they were all logical It either got detected 4 or 8 core based on whether you tested for float or int lol FX was and wasn't a lot, but it sure as shit wasn't 4c/8t, it was both 4c and 8c depending on the workload It would be closer to 8c/4t than the other way around when crunching floats, but yeah it's neither really. They made pretty decent cheap h264 encoding boxes at the time as h264 encoding is an integer-only workload and could utilize all 8 int cores. Now if we rewind back to the days of the 286 and 386, which had no floating point units whatsoever, noone called those half a cpu because of the lack of FPU ;) by that logic, a core doesn't even have to have an FPU.Matter of perspective, for every argument you can find a counterargument that's equally true A couple of years ago phones would sell as octacore, when they in fact had 2 sets of quad cores that couldn't be used simultaneously at the time, somehow they got away scott free lol Not saying FX wasn't gash, but get your facts straight :) Fun fact, ryzen has borrowed quite some of the design principles of FX in terms of interconnects, and cxxes are a derivative too But this time they sped up the l3 cache fivefold, and kept a 1:1 ratio on fpu/int cores, cores that don't have shit ipc

But they still were cpus that peaked at "decent." :P Don't get me wrong, I know people who still rock FX cpus to this day, but I also know people who still rock Haswell i3s. The Fx-8350 was AMD's flagship processore, yet it was trading blows with upper tier i5s, and at twice the cost and 125% the TDP of said i5s. FX was a noble experiment at bringing high core counts into the mainstream, and while it would be wrong it call it a failure, it also would be wrong to all it a success.

@@Churchgrimm it was an ambitious design, but it never quite came together They mustve had some serious hurdles to end up with a cpu that had lower IPC than the phenom II (the x6 was a real OG) Phenom II x6 launched at like 230 bucks and had 6 true FPUs, bulldozer launched at 700 bucks orso rofl, and the pre piledriver ones were shit clockers too ;) Fx8350 and 6300 were already better iterations and still couldn't keep up (great clockers though, never seen a 8350 that couldn't do 5ghz) Software got better at utilizing cores as time passed though, so they did kind of age gracefully in that regard Its a hell of a lot more useful than a dual core these days that's for sure :) The prices on FX tanked really hard though, come 2013 fx8350 was down to 155 bucks, at which point i found it worth buying I was sitting on a core 2 duo e7500, but it couldn't handle my adhd multitasking ;) Knowing it only had 4 fpus i played a little trick I had a mainboard preset to enable only 4 out of the 8 cores to open up more overclocking headroom to try and patch up the gash ipc with raw clockspeed for gaming lol I still like the am3 platform because it gave all the options in terms of overclocking, and it made a really good learning tool if anything :)

AMD FX had significantly lower IPC and efficiency than Sandy Bridge and Haswell. It was still quite decent though for its price for productivity and gaming. AM4 offers very competitive counterparts and practically owns all intel cpu generations from 2nd to 11th on the same platform and intends to repeat the same with AM5 till 2026. You just can't beat the upgradeability, the flexibility, the interoperability and the added value of the Ryzen platforms, and most definitely not when you still keep changing sockets and platforms every year or every other year.

At 5ghz it barely beat out Intel's contemporary quad core I7s in multithreaded tasks (while doing poorly in single thread) but also had 5ghz-sized power consumption to go with it (Amd rated it at a 220W tdp). The most ridiculous thing was that AMD thought they could sell it as some sort of halo product, launching it at 1000$ and you could only get it through a few exclusive OEMs. Once reality hit they lowered the price to about 300$ (and that's ignoring the cost of a compatible 990fx motherboard), which was still too expensive given the compromises. In short, it was too expensive and too power hungry while often being slower than the competition. It was a desperation move by AMD during a time when they couldn't really compete and the only reason to buy one would have been 5ghz bragging rights. Also, you could just buy a cheaper FX8350 and overclock that to 5ghz.
