🤯 I’m so glad you posted this! I asked and wondered the same thing about why two almost identical whorls. I can’t wait to restring my cpw’s! Thank you so much!! 🎉

Thank you for the Fb post and this video. My franken-wheel Ouellet will be getting a triple drive band soon.

Wow! I've been double-drive spinning since 1973, and have never heard of this! No, I don't have a CPW, but sure am going to do a mad science experiment with my old norwegian. Thanks, Val, for always being worth a watch!

Nice tip on holding the drive band while you string it up. Wonder why I never saw to do that. LOL

What a game changer! I was finishing a big alpaca spin project on my CPW this morning when I opened up YT to your video. I just had to try it ASAP, so as soon as the big project came off the wheel, I re-threaded my wheel as you showed and wow! I could immediately see the difference. Whereas before I needed to start with a four anchor points of cross-lacing to achieve a fingering weight, I can now spin lace-weight singles without any cross-lacing. Thank you so much for sharing Valerie, this is an awesome tip 😊 Happy holidays and I hope your 2025 is filled with love, peace and joy.

@valeriegaddis5973 I'm afraid that the women who spun with these wheels did not leave written accounts of their craft for posterity. These wheels were made and sold around the time of the industrial revolution. As many people moved to the city and had more access to milled textiles, women did not think it relevant to pass on their knowledge.

Im going to set up my one wheel in a triple drive setup tonight. My Jensen only has a one speed whorl so I can’t triple drive that one. Darn.

My only criticism is that I would have liked to have seen your triple drive in action. Otherwise, thank you for an interesting video and a helpful tip (regarding holding the end on a maiden) even for those of us whose wheels only do single drive.
