You need a good crossfader to do this technique right? Im practicing with a Roland DJ 505 But I just can’t get the sound right no matter how much I practice.

What kind of faders does the Roland dj 505 have? I haven't touched it so I can't give you my opinion, but if you have a serato system on that mxer, try adjusting the fader curves.
