Crabbing catch and cook off the Oregon coast. Kelly's Brighton Marina cooked them up for us. We move camp to Harborview RV park on Tillamook bay. After sun bathing we had dinner at Roseanna's Café in Oceanside. Finished the day off with a beautiful sunset.

Hi guys! I was leaving there and coming here a few days back and I just got here! Oh my goodness! This was a really good day for us tag-alongs!! Too fun! Kellie, I could tell by the look on your face walking out of the crabbing lesson that you were thinking, 'thats it! That's all they r going to teach us!' I have to agree, that was brief! And then, I thought the guy on the dock was going to take y'all out! Nope, put u on a boat and off u went, knowing exactly where u were going! Cody, I had to laugh when u said, "oh yea. We got crabs! All kinds of crabs!" Kellie, so glad u pulled up the cage one time to get the whole experience! What would one do if there wasn't anyone on board strong like Cody, to pull up the cage! That was fun y'all! Were y'all shivering after dinner?! So hot here! Safe travels till next time🌞✌️

The coolest thing about the western coasts of America, including the west coast of Florida, is that ya get the sundown. Until you have seen a truly good one? Ya can not know that Nature is capable of magical stuff. To me, the sundown in Clearwater Beach is the best I have ever seen.

I'm happy you guys are enjoying my famiily's old tradition of crabbing. We would go out and crab for a few hours and then jump in my dad's 4X4 and drive up a beach called Horsfall with a huge kettle and we would cook all that the crab right there on the beach over a big fire and pig out,. We then would sit back and enjoy the sunset just like ya'll. That last scene is is very reminiscent of our outings

To cook the crabs, bring water to a hard boil, put crabs in the hot water, bring up to a hard boil and then start timing 13 minutes at a hard boil. Hope that helps!

Oh my gosh! Kelly's is the best!!! Really nice people. I'm glad you caught some beautiful crabs .... one's better than none - Dungeness, Baby .... best crab flavor, for my money!!! Hey, if you're actually still in Oregon, be sure and get some good canned albacore tuna from one of the local processors ... it's a great treat for a quick meal when you need something fast ... the smoked albacore is CRAZY good. I'm also glad you sampled the Marionberry cobbler ... there's not much better ... Marionberries were developed at Oregon State University in Corvallis and my mother-in-law (aged 92) has been growing them on the original starts from the college since the 50s ... we get SEVERAL bags of them every year for our freezer and make Marionberry pies all through the year.

25:28 I have seen a few beautiful Sunset in Oregon Coasts. Sometimes, marina air/mist blocks part of the sunset then it will be different. When it is clear, the final moment it turns the sky red. It is stunning, something that video can never catch.

We live about 60 miles south of Tillamook on the coast. Our daughter and family came to visit from Nevada last month and we took them crabbing and clamming in Waldport and Newport, from shore for the crabbing. They sounded just like you when they got keepers. We went home and had a nice dinner with the catch. Glad you had fun. And, we just went into Newport and saw there was a vacancy sign on the South Beach State Park sign. It was full all summer along with most places on the coast. After Labor Day, it opens up here and you can get a site for more than a day. We get lots of people from central Oregon and out of state all summer. Kathleen

Kelly's Brighten Marina has grown a bit since I last visited there. They did a really great job of providing a short course on crabbing. To be honest, summer time is traditionally the slower season for catching keeper sized male crabs. Late fall till mid spring tends to be more abundant, but it isn't perfect science. When you showed your spot at Garibaldi there over looking the bay with the old Coast Guard house out there, you missed an opportunity. Privided you still had a valid shellfish license, you could wait until the tide goes out, and walk barefoot in the sand right there and feel for Cockles. We did a bottom fishing charter one year, an while they were filleting our fish, my son and I walked around in the bay right there behind your campsite and almost limited out on Cockles. We even scored a few keeper crab, as they just wander around and you can just grab them. Fun stuff!! So happy you guys were able to experience the Oregon coast crab fishery on such a nice day. It can be wet, cold and brutally windy otherwise

Always a great time crabbing on the beautiful Oregon coast especially when the weather is like this.. my first crab trap drop is to search for crabs, if I pull up a decent amount I’ll drop the trap right back down then try to concentrate in that area. You guys did just that like pros! Great video thanks for sharing, Kelly’s is an awesome place! You guys could also throw some crab rings or traps from the dock on the right hand side where your camping, I’ve gotten some keeper of there several times. A poplar spot 12 Ave dock!

Kellie, you mentioned that the last place you camped had full hookups and luandry. Then you said, "So that's a double whammy." Minutes about 21:25. Just so you know, whammies are a bad thing, not a good thing. Just thought you might want to know. Also, I think you mentioned you had already been in Bandon, OR. If not, and you want to try a really good restaurant, try the Wheelhouse and Crowsnest restaurant. Super good place. Praying you both continue to have safe journeys.
