Never been a lover of sea food: Lobster, Shrimp, Scallops etc. But back in 1979 had a chance to eat Dungeness Crab in South East Alaska....think it was Wrangell. It was a Fathers Day Crab Boil and we were invited from our Campground. We resisted because you dont go into a town and belly up for the feed!! After numerous invites the President of the Lions (??)Club, believe insisted!! Was glad he did. !! Excellent!! Just boiled in salt water. Rum and Coke served in a tall colins glass was 80% rum with a splash of coke. Kept me up half the night as one did not dare sleep on that with the probable morning hangover!! Have never had King Crab which unlike Dungeness is not a true crab but might try it one day!!

It definitely has flaws too, isn't for everyone, and you gotta love having rain all the time and barely ever see the sun without clouds over it, but it is an incredibly beautiful state with a lot to offer. We have open ocean coast and protected sound, two very different mountain ranges, deserts AND rainforests, rivers everywhere, excellent hunting and fishing, and plenty of other great stuff too numerous to list. I highly suggest you visit sometime

Having lived in SE Alaska for 15 years and now Oregon for 22 years and being a boat owner/fisherman it's good to see someone from Florida come here and see the difference in what we catch. I have a little quicker way of cleaning the crabs. I hold them by the claws on each side and break them over the end of the anchor then fling each side quickly to remove anything clining to the meat. It may not be all that humane but it's very quick. In Alaska we caught both Dungeness and King crab. Equally delicious.

I must say reading down through these comments is really giving me a laugh. All of those who are complaining about the way he dispatched the crabs as being inhumane obviously have no clue what it is all about. Very interesting, but the preferred method to kill and cook crab is to put the live crab including the carapace in a steaming pot. It dies more quickly than tearing it apart while still alive. To each his own, but putting garlic in the butter kills the natural flavor of the Dungeness Crab. Dungeness crab meat has such a rich flavor on its own. There are better ways to remove the carapace and gills in one step. Just turn the carapace to the right and then turn the carapace to the left and remove it and the gills in one motion. I grew up in Western Washington and now live in NorCal. I live for crab season and love to go to Half Moon Bay California to meet the commercial crab boats when they come back in... Buying directly from the fisherman guarantees the optimal size (2lbs plus) and optimal freshness. The crab season opened last week in the Half Moon Bay area it is sizing up to be a great year.

Check under your sink if you have metal or plastic pipes. Plastic pipes can react, degrade and fracture over time after repeated contact with water over 85-90 C. Metal or legit porcelain ones won't have this issue.

I'm from Maryland where we steam crabs. It's a little odd to see you boil them lol. Either way great video. I love everything you guys post. When I can't fish because I'm working or dealing with life.. I can look at your videos and live vicariously through you!

Crustaceans are a lower form of life then fish. They don't feel pain, they don't have the ability to. They dont fear, but scientists think they do have an innate sense of knowing when something is going to kill them and get away from it. Not fear exactly. More like a sense of self preservation.

Good point.....please dear god somebody go tell the bears and birds they must be more civil also when eating other animals. They must be more sensitive to the preys feelings.

I'd take fishing and crabbing in the west over the east or the south any day. The views and the food are above par!
