Crabbing In Wildwood 2024

Crabbing in New Jersey is a beloved pastime that offers both excitement and relaxation. With its extensive coastline and numerous bays, the Garden State provides ideal conditions for catching blue crabs.
Popular crabbing spots include the bays of Wildwood where enthusiasts can enjoy a day out on the water with friends and family and watch the sunset in Wildwood Crest by Sunset Bay.
To get started crabbing you'll need a few basic supplies: a crab trap or net, bait (such as chicken necks or bunker), a sturdy bucket, and a valid New Jersey fishing license if you plan on doing large pots (or traps).
Many local bait and tackle shops offer rental equipment and advice on the best crabbing techniques and locations.
Crabbing is best during the summer months, from late May to early October, when water temperatures are warm.
Early morning and late afternoon are prime times to catch crabs as they are most active during these periods. Patience and persistence pay off, as you'll need to check your traps regularly to see if you've made a catch.
On our trip we left out of Pier 47 around 1pm with some smelly bunker on a pontoon boat. There you can rent boats and gear for half or a full day.
Not only is crabbing a fun outdoor activity, but it also offers the reward of a delicious seafood feast. Blue crabs are a local delicacy, and cooking them fresh from the bay ensures a tasty and memorable meal. So, grab your gear and head out for a day of crabbing in New Jersey.

Recently stopped at our favorite Philly seafood restaurant to get the Tuesday special of Tilapia with crab. Crab was MIA. Could not taste it see any crab meat in the thin supposedly crab. Hate when restaurants charge an arm & a leg for either crab or fish cakes when they are mostly cheap filling. You guys did great catching 19 keepers.
