You should've added that if there's no bias in *why* the 30% of x1 is missing then it's perfectly reasonable to take mean(x1)

What if x1 x2 and x3 are orthogonal. X2 and x3 fails to predict x1?

There's a number of hypothetical situations. What if the data is skewed, heavily present with outliers, observations are not independent e.t.c. e.t.c. The interview can ask such questions as a follow-up, but the purpose of this exercise isn't to cover every possible directions of this solution, rather to give you a sample in terms of what a structured response looks like in this easy-level data intuition question.

Work at a small company for atleast 3 years and persue master's at the same time , the time you'll finish your masters , you'll have a master's degree+ 3 years of experience. It works like a charm

Hi Dan I had to message here cause I am extremely disappointed with your customer service. While you are trying to do the right thing here but you are not living the values you are presenting. I have requested multiple times for a refund from your website and nobody has even got back to me. Your website is not serving the requirements for interview practice for someone who is looking for sample and therefore I have asked for refund many many times and there is absolutely No response! Please take the time to get back to me or at least update the customer care support on your website! That's the basic requirement when you start a business!
