The first album I bought was Aladdin Sane! I was thirteen and it remains one of my favorite today, along with the Stooges Raw Power. Thank you Adrian! 😉

With bare guitars it's striking how the solo part sounds like a Qotsa tune. Bowie influences are everywhere.

It wasn't until I saw him sing Let's Dance I realized he was just doing low-tone Bowie the whole time. Now every time I go back to QotSA it's all I hear, stoner rock David Bowie. Which is far far far from a negative, love Queens and love Bowie

Thx for choosing to celebrate Mick Ronson, probably one of the most underrated guitarist with S. Hackett. Alladin Sane is one of my first musical shock, and stay my favorite Bowie's Album.

It's easy to overlook Mick Ronson when you think of great guiarists but without doubt he was a very accomplished and innovative guitarist/ musician. I remember hearing Aladdin Sane on it's release and thinking what an awesome album it was. Bowie and Ronson put out some great stuff in there time together, thanks Adrian.

Great lesson, Adrian. The thing to remember about Ronno was that he was a fantastic all round musician - he didn’t just play guitar but did the orchestration for tracks like Life On Mars as well. Hugely underrated. His production on Morrissey’s Your Arsenal is awesome as well, such a shame he passed away shortly after

Brilliant!! One of my faves. Have been meaning to work this one out for a while. Thanks, Adrian. David Bowie once said about Mick "That's my Jeff Beck!!"

Great choice!! I loved this album and especially Cracked Actor. This was one of the first songs I ever learned from the record in the days before tab and youtube. Ronno had an almost vocal like technique to his vibrato - some great hints of it on your intro solo. Also Ronno's wilder vibrato was apparently done by pressing the palm of his hand on the strings behind the bridge. I tried it once. It HURTS ;)

One of my favorite Mick Ronson parts is White Light/White Heat from the Ziggy Stardust live soundtrack album. I'm sure it's super simple but I can never quite get that little hammer on part in the choruses to sound right...I'd love a video on that one.

Wait, what ? You mean you have a double jack plug leading to a single on the guitar which allows you play both channels simultaneously ? Love this track, great lyrics. Cheers
@ThomasLockney7 ай бұрын
Not quite. Search for a KZbin video titled "How to bridge tube amp channels" and you can see what this looks like. It's not possible on all multi-channel amps, as far as I'm aware, but on some that have dual inputs on each channel, you can connect a jumper using the extra input of the channel your guitar is plugged into and then plug that into the input of the other channel.

Like a Marshall 50w head?
@ThomasLockney7 ай бұрын
@@Ronno4691 I'm not a Marshall person, but I've definitely seen people doing this on Marshalls. It may depend on the model, though. Your best bet is either to talk to an amp tech or at least do some searches online for the particular model.

Another great lesson Adrian. The version of this tune on David Live is incredible. Tho, it lists Earl Slick as the guitarist. And that T shirt brings back memories. Is that a sly hint that a Beck lesson is coming down the pipe???

Ronson was supposed to have utilised a technique that allowed him to bend notes to an extreme degree even on a hardtail guitar like a Les Paul ie he slid a fingernail under a string....?
@ShlomirBareket7 ай бұрын
that cascading chord structure sounds like a MBV progression. Me thinks Ronson was copying the James Williamson LP/Marshall destruction.
