I had to trim mine just a little bit and touch up those edges a little with sandpaper. I sanded the entire backside and used nearly twice as much silicone. I used scrap metal and tools to weigh it down. Then I used some long wood dowels (rods/sticks) to push the front edge down by wedging the stick between the front seats and dashboard, then bring the seats forward to apply down pressure. I did this on the front edge at both far ends next to the doors. I also used tape to keep the front edges down. Used foam between the door to keep the side edge pushed down. Turned out perfect. Looks pretty damn good. Stopped dash rattle too.

I used a Dashskin on my 2011 Denali. Honestly, this is one of the best engineered items I’ve ever scene and I’m a mechanic. The fit was absolutely perfect and the look is as original as you could possible get. The seams by the vents on the sides are the only thing that doesn’t look original but that’s to be expected. Easy installation for sure. It’s a fantastic piece.

Since this video the production quality has improved, and installation instructions are specific to your vehicle. Just got my cover today and it is a perfect fit to my car's dash. The Acura dealer wanted close to $3000 to replace my cars dash. Ridiculous! The price and quality of the replacement cover is so reasonable you'd be insane to pay to have a dash replaced by a dealer. Not to mention they'd be putting the same garbage dash back in the car just to crack again. No thank you!

It's a good fix for what it is. I just priced out my local Chevy dealership replacing my dash since my 2007 Suburban isn't covered by the recall (Yes, there IS a recall out now), and was quoted $1,400. What needs to happen is a class action suit against GM on behalf of owners 2007-2013 Silverado Sierra Tahoe Yukon Yukon XL Suburban and Escalade. We need to circulate a petition get it to the NTSB and attourney general to force a recall on all these trucks and have the dash repaired. For what we pay it is inexcusable this happened.

A replacement dash will crack again. It's the mounting points causing uneven stress. The whole dash assembly would need a redesign. I just installed the DASHskin and I'm very happy and satisfied. Looks like new again, won't crack, and stopped my dash rattle. You can barely notice it. It really does look like a factory dash panel.

For anyone considering this fly by night fix, don’t waste your money. There are so many other vendors selling this same item for a lot less. I found some at $60 and it is the same thing as this $170 one. Just buy the new dash from GM for $300 and then buy a $30 dash cover to protect it from the heat.

I really doubt this is still the case. First dealers no longer want responsibility for installing “aftermarket” solutions like this and Second they will point out all the reasons that may arise where you’ll need to remove the dash to fix shut underneath. Like the current airbag recall.

GM has always had interior issues. But I'd rather deal with interior problems instead of bad transmissions (Dodge) or horrible electrical issues (Ford).

Sir I'm glad it (the dash cover) worked out for you. I have an `00 Tahoe. GM doesn't even make my dash anymore. In the AZ heat the dash shattered like glass as it was so dried out. I wanted to get one of these "covers" but I just did not like the way it fit. I got lucky that I found a used original dash on Ebay. It cost me more than what I wanted to pay for a dash but in the end it was worth it. Especially as I was able to find this dash that was actually in my color. I will be honest if I find another dash I will buy it as a back up as I plan on keeping my Tahoe until the wheels fall off.

$950?! This is nuts for a problem GM caused! That is good for some headers, exhaust, tune, a good set of tires...anything and you are forced to spend it on a dang dash! Right now since my initial post, my (new to me) dash is still holding up. I use "303 protectant" and use it once a week to keep this dash alive. I also use a sunshield if I cannot park my Tahoe in the garage (at work, shopping whatever) to limit the sun's exposure as much as possible. I find it funny that out of every part of my Tahoe I worry more about the dash than anything else...

This shouldn't even have to be done. I cant believe GM "my favorite auto maker" made this crap dash! This reminds me a Dodge Ram dash cracking. It seems that the higher end dashes on the Chevy LTZ ans the GMC SLT/Denali's had this cracking problem. On the Chevy LT and GMC SLE I didn't experience this cracking.

Im about ready to tackle this as well. I was pretty close to buying a complete new dash but shipped they want $600!! So I have mine apart for to try and gain better access for replacing the antenna and figured since it was out I would replace the dash until I seen how much they are. Still can't access where the antenna comes through and now have to pull the fender doh!! I am very picky with how the skin will look as it sounds like you are too but I think you made me feel better about it and think I will go that route as well. BTW, how's it holding up?

Almost 6 months later and it is still fine. Freezing/Heat haven't effected it in the least. I put on the cover within about 2 minutes of applying the silicon adhesive.

I just picked up an 09 PPV Tahoe, and it has some minor cracks in it. Nothing like yours. I’ve been thinking about getting one of these, but I think those side seems would be more annoying to me than the original cracks. I just wouldn’t be able to ignore them. I’ve seen some of these skins that come with an extra cover to make that air bag spot seamless, but I wouldn’t trust that not to hurt my passengers if I ever got in an accident... How has it held up, has the skin cracked?

I think it wouldn't be that hard to peel this up, scrape off the silicon and re-install it. I guess worse case scenario is you'd have to buy another skin if you break it removing it. I'm also not sure how you remove the dash light sensor - is that done from the top?

When you did the dry fit, did you notice that over the instrument cluster there was a gap and a bit of hang over from the original? About to do mine today.

The instructions on most of these advise you to run silicone into the existing cracks to keep them from rattling, then install the new skin.

Terrible multi-cracks in same place near air bag. If I can get the air bag cover off I think I can reinforce the crack without taking the dash out. Better to take it out, but very complicated.
