Really appreciate the methodical breakdown. Makes much more sense to me now. Next obvious step is to get out my own supplies and see how they perform for me! The thought and preparation you put into your videos really shows. Thank you for doing it.

Hi, just came across this episode. Have used crackle medium before just to see what would happen always reading before hand and then following instructions. Seeing as I'm more an abstract artist I tend to experiment and maybe stretch the boundary's a little bit ( ok, a lot!) I found this really helpful. Please keep on what you're doing and more videos with other special effects paints and or mediums!

Thank you so much for this video! I have been very interested in crackle glazes but have been hesitant to use the ones I have purchased because I feel like I am wasting it because the cost is so high. I have the Ranger Inksentials crackle accents one step crackle medium and the golden crackle paste. I was just reading recently that you can make your own with PVA glue, like Elmers glue all. Just apply the glue, wait until it is starting to dry but not fully dried, then add a coat of paint on top. Let it air dry. You will probably mention that in this video, but I am commenting before it has finished playing. :-)

I'm sorry! I'm obviously very thick as I still have questions! I have a painted, distressed dresser. I want to apply a CLEAR crackle finish on top of the distressed paint. (I DON'T want to apply a top coat of paint over the crackle. I want the crackle clear.) I have crackle medium, but don't know what clear product to sponge over the crackle medium when it's dried to produce clear cracks (like an antique painting). I want to finish by wiping a glaze into the clear crackle cracks and still show the underneath distressed paint. Please tell this thick-brained old lady what products I need to apply to the distressed painted surface to accomplish this. PLEASE and THANK YOU! 😁😁

I’m just guessing here, but it looks a lot like a vinyl tablecloth my grandmother made, and that I use for this purpose. I bet you could make one yourself. Try going to a fabric store (or ordering online) vinyl by the yard from a fabric store. Be sure to measure the table top you’ll be using to determine the yardage needed. Some vinyls are backed with a rubber-like finish, others with a softer side, or you could just buy plain vinyl. (I worked in a fabric store once upon a time) ☺️

Im doing a big war table. and I want a good piece of it to have eroded ground. So I cant have the super small crackles. And white cement with glue and paint isn't working for me. What medium or varnish or glaze would you recommend for crackle islands ranging from 4mm to 1 cm wide?

Can you do this on a saw blade? Is there anyway to correct my mistake of applying medium glaze over my painted surface and apply the crackle instead? I think I really goofed up.
@francepapillon2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can apply the crackle medium over the glaze but it might chip off depending on the sturdiness of the blade
@dad2six3 жыл бұрын
You mention using acrylic paint several times. Is that the only kind of paint this works with?
@francepapillon3 жыл бұрын
Be it regular acrylic or chalk paint, yes it is. You might get some crackles with watercolour or even spray inks depending on the binder is in it but it’s even harder to control.
@PROgaming-fm6yu3 жыл бұрын
Would it be possible to do it on a plexiglass photgraphy print? If so, which method do you recommend?
@francepapillon3 жыл бұрын
No it wouldn’t work, the crackle medium would chip off because of lack of adherence. You will need something solvent based which I do not work with 🤷♀️
