That's exactly how I fix cracks. My breaks sometimes are lower and I have to grow it out first. I've always gotten low breaks since a kid. I prefer square tip on longer nails because they tend to not bend as easy.

Ugh i just had one of those free edge cracks today, ended up just ripping it apart cuz i was out and didnt even have the tools at home to fix it so to avoid a bloody nail, i just got rid of the whole nail tip 😭 wish I'd seen this earlier

Omg this happens to me often. I stop putting acrylic overlay because instead of helping me grow string long nails I end up with brittle weak, damaged nails. I took it off and now I have short nails with basic nail polish. I will but my own nails and had care products and stop over paying for basic weak nails.

i literally just “fixed” my crack by applying some product and the old tea bag trick. once it fails i’m gonna do this, i only have builder gel so hoping it works.

Is there a way to fix them without gel? I only use regular polish but am growing my nails out. I patched up a point of growth crack with tissue paper and nail glue which saved me a big tear, but the free edge cracks are trickier and not sure what to do about them.

When i was 20 years ago I hit my nails on a ball and both thumb nails broke at the point of growth...to this day once the thumb nails grow a certain length they will break at the point of growth again.

This is literally my current issue in my nail journey! Especially my middle finger and also my pointer. This is so helpful, however I have a couple questions! Is there any way to prevent the nail(s) from splitting or is it always an issue? For instance, I’ve never dealt with this when having acrylic nails. I am trying to move away from acrylics though. i hate mine sm the moment it grows .1cm off the free edge it breaks at the point of growth💀 i used to reinforce my entire nail with base then topcoat but it made my nails more brittle bec of the products peeling off (products make my nails peel so it peels together with my nails and i... cant help it :'D) ive been growing it out for a while now without products. it breaks mire but im waiting for the thin oarts to grow out first so the stronger nails come in how do yall stop it from breaking esp when youre shampooing or sum

Then you can’t really afford to get your nails done or do them most likely. You can try to repair a crack with a tea bag, nail glue, and a file, but those cost money too.
