you should be using chain lube in gear cycle to keep the drivetrain in good condition and also do maintenance of the total bike by keeping it clean...this will result in not to visit the mechanic frequently...i also have cradiac cycle.... the alpha lite And as in this cycle the front derailleur wire is not internally routed you should keep it clean to avoid rust...
