My people, (of Larrakia country) were weaving these baskets this same way for thousands and thousand of years, long before the violent colonization of our country by Captain Cook and British soldiers. Note; to the lady who made this his video, thank you for explaining how to start the magic circle. Your instructions were simple, clear, and easy to follow. I make earring using raffia the same way, but I was starting my circle the wrong way! 😏 and was wondering why it didn’t look so neat. Now I can try and make them again using his way! Thanks 😊

Nice video. Can you describe the difference in thickness of the core versus the wrap for raffia? Also, do you have a video that continues on with creating a basket from this start.

Thank you Ronald. I have really put this starter circle up for the people who have been to one of my workshops and help them remember how to start. I am going to be launching a paid online workshop for textile coiled baskets in the next few weeks. So to answer your question I don’t have a video that continues from this one.

Just loved this video. Do you have some more detailed tutorial on making a basket. My maternal grandmother had those 35years ago. I miss those. I wishhave them in my kitchen for keeping breads. Thanks for making this video.
