For me, the PP items are super helpful when trying to fill out the dex entires to 10. Even more when trying to get a 100% dex. A lot of the moves required for the dex have a smaller amount of PP and using an agile/strong style move is also a frequent need. That's the only time I'm using PP though.

3:55 - Iron spawns in fixed locations across all 5 maps, and becomes more commonly harvested from ore veins in higher tier areas. If you're gathering Tumblestones in higher level areas, chances are you're making enough iron doing so to cover not just the Jets and Gigatons, but Ultras too. Heck, my farming runs for Cherubi in the Fieldlands takes me across at minimum a half-dozen nuggets of iron just lying on the ground, and I could probably have run across more if I wasn't hard focusing on checking trees, both along the southern border of the Heartwood and through Oreburrow Tunnel. Iron shouldn't be a problem in the lategame if you're collecting what you need for the better balls anyway. Though given the route you show later in the game providing Ultra Balls as well, I concede the point; Why craft *or* pay when you can farm them up too? As inefficient as it is, any Ultra Ball gain is usable. 6:50 - Any Potions, to be fair, aren't so useful in your conditions, assuming you have the patience for all the back and forth, but for those who have more distance to travel or are in the middle of hunting for pokemon and grinding up XP, Potions save you the trips back to camp, especially in the case of Max Potions once you get pokemon in the 200+ HP club, or gods help you, a Blissey to train up if you wanna go that route. Potions aren't useless, they're a Convenience that saves you the run back to camp every 4 minutes. 8:35 - As mentioned by other commentors, some research tasks take using Low-PP moves to complete the page, and while I myself never needed the Max Ether/Elixir, I _did_ use Leppa Berries rather consistently to save the trips back to camp. 13:16 - And here I must rebuke you; Max Revives are *the* Lifesaving option in the field, and I freely admit that these spiky lil nuggets carried me through the last major fight in the game because I was swamped from the fight right before it. Without them, I may have had to restart numerous times, or simply back off and overlevel myself to withstand the endurance run that is the last fight in the game. Even in basic XP training, they and their Non-max prerequisite item are useful for covering a mistake when training new mons, most commonly throwing out a mon and getting outsped and oneshot. I personally tried to keep 10 Max Revives on me before I took on that last fight, and since then, hold onto atleast 5 while out there. 19:18 - Consider charting a route for Iron too, since you put a considerable lot of import on the two balls you can only get via crafting, perhaps a future video you can outline the best route to get the iron off the ground. Though consider noting how Shaking Veins in the Icelands have the *potential* to yield a lot of iron as well, it's probably wiser to simply focus on a route for Iron farming for the viewers short on balls and looking for the fast way to make more Also, for Sticky Globs, if you're farming for those, You get Spoiled Apricons all the time from wild mons and Apricorn trees, not much you can do to improve those chances, but balls of mud can indeed be directly farmed from the Lava Dome Sanctum, so if you're short on those, you can get a lot of them from that cave, all over the floor. Caster Ferns are all over the Mirelands, so if you need those and don't wanna spend the money, that's the place to look.

@@Plasmafox That's a fair decision to make as well, in terms of efficiency. Personally, I do wish that Ultra Balls and its line had a better capture chance when used during a battle to balance it out and make them more viable for things like Legendaries and Rift catches, but that's more out of a sense of making sure everything has a purpose than a genuine criticism about the game's balance.

Man, I love your content. So helpful and easy to follow. That said, when you said you've only used a few potions for the entire game, I was like, "What?? I've probably used at least a hundred!" Obviously if I'm near a camp I'll go back to rest, but some maps have areas that are a decent distance from the camps, and I'd rather pop a quick potion and keep on truckin' than interrupt whatever I'm doing to make that extra trip. Also, they're useful when I'm in a time vortex and need to heal up a bit if I end up battling something there. No way I'm risking the vortex ending just so I can save a few potion materials by returning to camp. The bit about never using revives also surprised me. I don't need them often, but on those rare occasions where my strongest Pokemon for a certain battle gets KO'd, I'll often spend the first turn of the next Pokemon using a max revive on the KO'd Pokemon, then throw them back into battle. Especially if the monster I'm fighting happens to be one of the few types I only have one truly strong Pokemon against. On a similar note, again on those rare occasions where someone gets KO'd, using a revive near the end of battle can ensure that Pokemon doesn't miss out on the XP from battle. That's not a big deal if I'm fighting a smaller, more common Pokemon, but if it's an Alpha, etc or if the Pokemon that got KO'd happens to be a level or two behind the pack, it's worth it to me to use a revive to get them that XP. On the flip side, I never use stealth spray. I just don't need it. I feel like if you use cover and time your attacks right, you don't need to worry about that stuff. If I'm just passing by and happen to aggro something, I ignore it and keep going. If I'm trying to catch something, I use strategy in planning my route, using grass, smoke bombs, and berries as needed to get near my target (if needed, I'll catch some of the smaller monsters first - I usually need a few of them anyway to fill out their Dex entries, which is something I'm heavily focused on now in the post game). I guess what this vid shows me is that there are multiple playstyles that work for this game. Your guides usually work really well for me, but this vid was the total opposite of how I play, and that's okay. Still appreciate the amount of thought and effort you put into it, and look forward to your next vid, to be sure. Keep up the great work!

if im covering a lot of ground and need to heal, I go to camp and rezone for the shiny re-roll on every overworld mon. I have about 20 full-odds from my play time and doing this.
@nicked_fenyx2 жыл бұрын
@@AustinJohnPlays Definitely a good idea, esp for when you need to heal before starting out to cover lots of ground. But for me, if I need to heal while already quite a ways from camp, I'd rather just heal and keep on going than do the whole trek again. But that's clearly more of a personal preference. And, with 130 hours in the game so far, I only have three shinies (including the gimme Ponyta), but I attribute that to the fact that I tend to play a lot with the sound off while listening to other stuff, and the visual cue is one that's hard for me to pick up on, esp if flying. I honestly wish it were a bit more obvious, but that could just be me. Working on catching those last few Pokemon while also completing research pages as I go, so hopefully that and the shiny charm I'll eventually get will up the odds a bit as well. Regardless, thanks again for the content. It really is insanely helpful.
@Plasmafox2 жыл бұрын
Without stealth sprays, on mons that don't instant aggro at the slightest thing. Once you're in cover, you can do a roll(staying in cover.) They'll turn to face you. Since most pokemon seem to prefer to make 180 degree turns on average, a great deal of the time their next move is to turn their back.
@masonbeeeeees2 жыл бұрын
I actually have been running out of PP pretty often, but specifically when I'm trying to have a pokemon of mine do a certain move a bunch of times for the perfect dex page. I'm working on Raichu's right now, and he's gotta do 70 thunders, which only has 5 PP (and has been painful so far lol). HOWEVER, I would 100% recommend just using leppa berries to restore the PP instead of using max ethers. You need a leppa berry to craft a max ether anyway, but the only times I've really had issues with PP are in situations where the move already has a very small amount of PP, so using a leppa berry to restore 10 pp is usually more than enough: there's no need to waste two pep-up plants to get something that maxes out the PP when it only has like 5-10 PP to begin with. Hopo berries also restore PP, but they're used in stealth sprays whereas leppa berries are only used for max ethers,

Tip: Sort your inventory manually in a way that the Item carousel has a Pokeball in the middle, a lure or smoke bomb to one side and a stun on the other. Quickswitching between your items will make catching pokemon much easier, and might come in handy when Shiny hunting mass outbreaks. I do Ultra ball first slot, Oran berries 2nd slot and Sticky Globs last slot of the inventory, not 3rd next to Orans, but the bottom of the page slot, that way if you get resources from catching pokemon it won't mess up your scrolling. During mass outbreaks, I catch as many as i can without aggro-ing... when they aggro, LR to switch to the globs, I stun the 4 pokemon, ZR to switch back to pokeball, start catching, rinse and repeat until you're done! This strat made shiny hunting rotom, sneaseal and other aggros a piece of cake. When hunting water pokemon tho i prefer stealth spray + smoke bombs because its much harder to aim the globs right in water.

For anyone going for a perfect pokedex... many pokémon require a move to be seen with either a strong style or agile style and some of these moves if you are going to be using them with a style pp goes down really fast, you may not want to always fast travel to camp and sleep as some moves only have 5 or 10 pp and that doesn't last very long. Hopo berries and Leppa both restore 10pp to any 1 move. My advice is to use the hopo berries and sell off the Leppa berries or craft with the leppa berries and sell that item as you won't need them and they cost more to buy but with any berry you can get from trees.

I think that will depend a lot on your playstyle. For those of us who actually use restoring items fairly often, the health items option is worth getting. That's pretty much all I use my farm for anymore, since I have a good route for farming Pokeball materials quickly myself and don't need the materials offered by the other options. But for Austin, the health items option on the farm would be useless since he doesn't mind interrupting whatever he's doing to make extra trips back to camp to rest. I'd say try them all once to see what materials you get (or look it up online), then decide based on what those materials allow you to craft which option is most helpful for you.

Side note: If the tree is shaking and you defeat/capture the pokemon that falls from it, you get double the usual output from that tree shake.

Crazy you’ve gotten almost a mil in a couple weeks! Great job, keep going!

Awesome, thank you! Also noticed if a Pokémon jumps out at you, you have defeat it if you want the items inside. You can't run or you don't get anything.
@WittyPractitioner2 жыл бұрын
I think the items just land on the floor instead of automatically shooting into your inventory when you run, they should still be there if you want to go up and grab them
@Gotenhanku2 жыл бұрын
You also get more items from shaking objects as well. Like with trees if it's shaking when you catch/defeat the pokemon you typically get 10 of the item from the tree.

Can't like this video enough!! My jaw dropped right at the beginning with "Don't craft Ultra Balls." This is going to make the game so much fun! Thanks for all of your hard work and making our lives easier!

I just got my copy of Legends Arceus (too late but I had troubles) and man the game is REALLY different from the traditional Pokemon game. So this videos of Austin is really helpful. Like my favorite and amazingly similarly named Red Ranger, Austin is a hero.

Buying the materials for crafting ultraballs is $40 cheaper per ultraball compared to if you buy them from the general store ($560 to buy the materials for ultraballs, $600 for the general shops ultraball)

I think the recovery items come in useful when you're trying to catch distortion Pokemon. whenever I see a distortion I try to catch all the Pokemon because it's a ton of money, and sometimes my level 93 legendary with maxed out EL's gets a little overwhelmed, especially if I get paralyzed in a 3-4 mon battle that I don't want to run from because it's a distortion. e: ESPECIALLY max ethers, agile extrasensory basically never kills anything in one shot and gets tons of extra chances to catch, so I have to keep it topped up since I only get 8-15 uses

I didn't even realize the the recipes existed until after I beat Avalugg. I just crafted and accumulated items on my journey. I made potions just fine, and I somehow collected a ton of leppa berries. So I was good.

Similar story here. I didn't realize recipes existed until I got the side quest to craft a bean cake. I was like... "there are recipes???" Cue mass crafting of star pieces and massive influx of cash... which was immediately spent on that crook who promises to teach you to arrange things more efficiently in your bag, but only teaches you a fraction of his knowledge each time so he can max out the amount of money he takes from you. That guy really is the game's true villain.

I hadnt realized prior to watching this that there were all those boxes and chests in that area. Lol so you learn something new everyday.

Thank you Austin, you are amazing, the experience itself is great but you just make these games much more efficient and therefore more fun for us.

During battle, you can just press X, then L or R to get to a Pokeball and press ZR to throw it. As you can skip the Item menu during battle, that's the reason why Recovery Items are given sorting priority over Pokeballs. Likewise, you can swap out a Pokemon like this during battle, instead of opening the menu (provided you don't need to check their HP).

On my 3rd playthrough and just wanted to mention that Near the Shipwrecks at cobalt coastlands is a good place for people who haven't gotten to the highlands yet It's also really fast once you set up the extra camp

One thing Ill add/bring up is I see alot of tubers skipping out on the moving farmables but if your trying to get materials its better to go after them because doing the battles nets you more materials then if you just ignore it so it might be better to just do the fights

Farming Sticky Glob Ingredients: Mud Balls - Heatran's Cave Spoiled Apricorns - Leaf Piles Reload the area, rinse and repeat runs. You can add in other "checks" along the way, such as the Bandit Sisters or Kings Leaves you notice. Coastlands make for a good ingredient farm (imo)
@SakuraChai2 жыл бұрын
I have to add, for spoiled Apricorns you can also use the farm as well, the worse the yield the more spoiled apricorns you get per farm.

FARMING TIP: if you beat Heatran go back in the cave, the mud balls (20) respawn. Also use the actual farm with apricorns. You get lots of spoiled apricorns from the farm.

Scatter bangs are useful sometimes! If you throw them at a Pokémon it will make the other Pokémon run while the one that was hit by the scatter bang stays in one spot. Makes it easier to corner one Pokémon!

I craft elixirs because the alternative for mobile PP is carrying the leppa berries- which are throwable, meaning one more thing to scroll past when you're trying to stun and backstrike something while under fire. The 1 more craft item to manage is tolerable in comparison

Could you possibly talk about what's the best route to get Iron chunks? I always seem to run out whenever I need to make more jet/gigaton/ultra balls.

I found potions really useful and actually vital to my playthrough, but I wasn't overleveled at all, I was just about at par with where I think I should be for that point in the game. Of course it depends how you play, but I wouldn't completely write off the potions (and their upgrades) for every player. Plus, I always had an insane amount of oran berries, so it was never actually hard to keep a supply of potions, since the other items to create and upgrade them were common enough that I could just craft a few extra now and again. They saved me in a few fights so I wouldn't have ever gone out without them in my playthrough. The same exact thing can be said for revives actually. I think something to take note of with revives specifically is if your Pokemon is knocked out in the battle, you won't gain exp on them even if they weren't fainted after one of the enemy Pokemon (exp is gained after the fight ends and not between Pokemon knocked out) so if your Pokemon faints they just get nothing. Like okay sure you can just encounter another Pokemon for exp but sometimes it's easier to just pop a revive so they can get exp and you don't have to go farm for exp again after.

I use hyper potions all the time. Sure, I could fast travel back to camp then run/fly back to whatever I was doing, but that takes time. And being level 100 does not make you need healing less.
