One thing with it is that you might want to consider going with a 3 layer wall rather than 2, with the larger openings on both outsides of it sandwiching the ones with the smaller...or, if you want to have paned windows, go with 5 layers, the middle and outsides being the larger and other being the smaller openings, the middle one can hold what you want for the window itself.
@OkayHobbyTime2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Azrael! 3 would be great to get the bevel on both sides. I decided to leave it out to save time. I find that crafting is always a balance of detail vs. time.
@AzraelThanatos2 жыл бұрын
@@OkayHobbyTime I was thinking the combo of detail and sturdyness. That type of wall is also relatively fragile for basic accidents and in ways that are difficult to repair.

Looks amazing! That top floor seems a little soft though, might be worth incorporating some wood beams for it, or using something like an ePVC foam sheet underneath the less destroyed sections
@OkayHobbyTime2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Connor! There's some bounce to it but nothing I'm worried about. It's surprisingly sturdy. Wood beams may make there way into a video once I go bigger, though!

What do you do with all these projects? They must take a whole lot of storage space. I love the process and overall finish of the builds although I think taking it to the next level (assemblability) would be golden.

Pure art! The wood work is fantastic. This is one of the most satisfying builds I've seen. I don't want to use that much foam to get the bezel look. Any suggestions?
@OkayHobbyTime6 ай бұрын
Thank you! And you can definitely opt out of using 2 walls to create the bezel look. Maybe add some outer window sills to create some dimension instead.

Have you ever had any stability issues when placing miniatures on the wooden floors? I can see some of metal miniatures causing the foam to bend beyond breaking point.
@OkayHobbyTime2 жыл бұрын
None at all. I know it looks a little bouncy, but the foam isn't anywhere close to breaking. I'd love to do a video one day demonstrating how weight this type of foam can take.

First time commenting. Fantastic tutorial. Foam is always so therapeutic to work with, and almost hypnotic (and so relaxing) to watch when being given form. Are you in the USA? If so, where did you get your machining blocks? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! And I agree, I love working with XPS foam. I'm in Canada and was able to find the blocks on Amazon. They should be on the US site as well.

Fantastic build and thanks for sharing. Also just a small nitpick... vertical goes up and down. Horizontal goes across (for your floors) ;). Keep up the great work.

Thanks Dan! Glad you enjoyed it. And yes, I should have used the word sideways to describe the bottom beams since they're still technically horizontal. 🙂

These might be the best terrain videos that I've seen on KZbin, thank you for sharing your amazing work. I would love to have a go at this and can see that you have posted the Amazon links below, however please can you let us know what wooden block tool you are using when cutting the foam sheets at 0:32 of the video? Great video. My only critique was the reflection on your display was distracting a bit. You airbrush indoors? I’ve been thinking about doing the same what are you using for air circulation?
@OkayHobbyTime2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yes, it's been bugging me as well and will eventually be swapped with something more neutral. I airbrush indoors, but usually only briefly. When it's longer sessions I crack the window next to me and/or wear a 3M respirator.
We’re did you get the fence attachment? Splendid work btw
