Content-wise, I really like having a blend of wargaming and terrain. It's nice to see the cool terrain actually put to use!

Same here! I think like 40% terrain 40% games and 20% reviews/etc is the sweet spot.

I have a space ship for Five Parsecs from space that is made out of those rotisserie chicken containers ! Foamboard wings, med botte landing gear, bits and bobs for flavor. Stop by your local construction site and ask them to keep scraps of insulation foam, thin plywood, piping, and wiring for you. Free materials.

Rotisserie chicken containers are just too good to not use for terrain :p Also, I've been wanting to try Five Parsecs out for a while. Seems like a fun game. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks! They came out alright. I'm kinda glad I had to repaint them. :P I definitely learned a lot and I think there are a couple good ideas here for people to expand upon in their own builds

Brother, use guitar strings for pipes or wires. Easily bent into any shape you want. - Rick, USMC.

That's a good idea! I think I still have some old ones from back in the day. My guitars have been collecting dust for years 😅 Thanks

I've seen a few comments saying to use armature wire or guitar strings (all good idea imo). To add to that: You can try to get wire from Harbor Freight (or other applicable hardware store); the stuff I used was for securing locks. I've also repurposed junked cables/charger cords. Lastly, in a pinch, paper clips Hope that helps at least spark up some ideas. Happy hobbying!

your method of filling the inside of those plastic tubs with glue and sand for added strength was a gamechanger for me. I'd tried before to use expanding foam but it comes off. Using your glue and sand method followed with expanding foam afterwards works brilliant. I've also used the process to strengthen drinks cans (you have to cut an end off) and other stuff too to bash terrain. Thank you!

3:54 I'm personally a big fan of aluminum wire now. It's not as expensive as copper, not as toxic as lead, and cuts and bends super easily. You can get fairly thin and thick options in a mixed pack. You might be able to use tin-silver solder (electrical for thin and plumbing for thick) but I think that would be more expensive than it's worth.

wire options: Visti the floral dept of Hobby Lobby or department store and look for packets of wire. there are usually different gages but I love the thread wrapped wire.

another great build mate. What i use for bendable wires is floral wire, the one with the plastic covering. You can get them at a variety of thicknesses and they work perfectly. I use them for my necromunda terrain builds all the time. However be mindful of the ones with rubber or silicon covering, hotglue does not stick on that ;).
@hauntswargaming Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I did pick some floral wire up, along with a few other wires. Lock wire is the most economical thing I've found for armatures. I need to use more wires in my builds lol

Nice build mate , I use florist wire for most of my wire needs on my terrain , keep up the good work mate 🇦🇺👍🏻

Was back watching again, on for wire, the fancier type of twist ties, used in packaging to keep whatever you've bought attached to the three pounds of plastic it's in, is a nice stiff wire with a coating, with a circular cross section.

Thanks, that's a good one! I didn't think about reusing those

I found this channel through your battle reports, which I greatly enjoyed. I'm glad to see you doing terrain as well! This was a neat project idea, and I look forward to seeing you revisit and iterate on it if/ when you do.

Love that I found this channel bro. Just stick with it, your stuff is awesome, people just don't know yet. You've become a DM Scotty, much like Wyloch and BMC. You've got your own flavor. I thought this was a cool azz build even if you were rushed

Very cool build! If you want easily bendable wiring, you could try armature wire, which they sell at art supplies stores like Michaels, or maybe guitar string? The only thing is that they don't have the insulation on them to make them look like electrical wire, although they would make good pipes....
@hauntswargaming Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Armature wire might work well. I want to try making some trees at some point using the wire method so I might as well pick some of it up.

I always enjoy your videos, but I have to ask. When are you going to finish that sweet ass looking factory you started?
@hauntswargaming Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'm not sure. My terrain collection is lacking a lot of basic scatter terrain ATM so I've been focused on that. Plus it's looking like I might be expanding my studio space this year so that's going to be a big project also. I do want to finish it but it's on the back burner for now.
