Ryan, I absolutely agree with you regarding instant tanks. While I enjoy viewing videos of hobbyists with no budget, bought all colonies and all the fish at once; my true joy is to see someone buy a few frags the size of a quarter and give updates a couple times per year on progress. It’s how I can do my personal tank, and I have dream corals and fish I might never actually get. I hope you do the shorts you mentioned, here is a frag, here’s what it will look like as a colony some day. Here is a fish, this is how you care for it, etc. The whole joy for me is the journey and I hope the pressure from a “business” perspective doesn’t force you to just show these new 52 weeks tanks all completed from day one. You have consistently been a thought leader who has not hesitated to go against the grain, and it’s one of the key traits I enjoy about you the most - other then always showing when you failed (actually teared up the day you shot the video at your house as your dream tank was being taken down. Your honesty in that moment, that is so rare from experts in any field, solidified my being a permanent fan and advocate of your work.

I know this series kinda petered out, but all of these episodes are incredible - some of the best content around. I didn't bother watching this episode because I wasn't in an aquascaping mindset, but now that I'm thinking of an upgrade down the road I will absolutely reference this and many otheres Some of the best content on youtube

Hi guys, watching from Australia, my opinion and exactly what I am going to do in my cade 2100, is plant a heap of little frags of the same coral and let it grow out. I think it would be something unique. You see so many reef tanks (nothing against it) full of tiny frags of so many different sps, that eventually they just constantly battle each other. 2 or 3 amazing different colored sps colonies that compliment each other would be something else. Keep up the great content!!

Using Marco rock powder and thin CA glue and accelerator. Super cheap, very strong and color and texture matched. I used brs thick glue and accelerator to make the initial hold then thin ca, powder, accelerator, thin, powder, accelerator. Repeat until the joint is built up. No need for anything else.

On the Chromis tank, cause you asked for direct feedback: you're building an example for people. That means do it right, don't take a shortcut not available to most of your audience. Few can go and import one giant Acropora colony from the Indo-pacific. Go with the numerous frags and let them grow in, that's how we'd have to do it and it will look better in time. How long was the 160 on this channel? Ideally, your audience will still be here to watch when the Chromis tank has grown in :)

I would love to see you follow the pattern of the original 52 week series and use the 52 weeks to build and grow your tank. Show us what you can realistically achieve over a year if you start from frags. It would be so amazingly cool to see the acro/chromis tank grow from rock and frags into a beautiful reef, even if after a year it still has room to grow.

Not interested....want to see 2nd Biome Series "Let's find out" you said ?
@BRStv Жыл бұрын
We debated on what was more valuable; another set of biome experiment tanks or moving on to live tanks. 52SE is the application of what we learned from the biome series, along with some new thoughts. We all get to see the results. I doubt we will spend 6-9 months on biome 2 unless there is a clear benefit to doing so or need. We are constantly weighing time and resources, even things like compiling which corals tolerate which dips, peroxide, freshwater, oils, iodine, antibiotics ... concentration, length, and what each treats for seems like a better use of time.

@BRStv Appreciate the reply. Fair enough. I was just so hyped to see the experiment outcomes. BRSTV does a great job of increasing our knowledge of the hobby and sometimes I forget that first and foremost, you're a business. All the other things you do are free to the hobbyist and a valuable resource. Still gutted we're not getting the full series but if you give us what you think the best Biome combination is in this series that will have to do. Lol
