I’ve made some of these years ago and actually got some decent money for them back in my craft booth days. Love the look of the depth and brightness that the Mod Podge gives the material. You wouldn’t think so until you actually do the project. My plates had different birds on them & the red in the cardinals was gorgeous. Thanks for doing this project.

Did you have access to the dishwasher safe Mod Podge back then? If not, how did you advise buyers to wash the plates...I get that question often....Sandy
@amythompson68695 жыл бұрын
Crafting For Almost Everyone If they had it back then I wasn’t aware of it. That’s been over 20 years ago so I doubt it existed back then. I just told them up front to either just use them for decoration or just put cookies on them & wipe clean but never immerse in water. Some that were just for hanging on the wall I used white plates & put the material picture on the front. I love your videos BTW!

Your plates should dry clear over time. You probably have some Mod Podge trapped between the layers and it should dry out...sometimes it takes longer than you'd think for that to happen. I hope it's worked out for you since yesterday and that your plates are now clear...

SOS - I NEED HELP ASAP: I modged podged the fabric to the back of my plates yesterday afternoon and let them dry ALL NIGHT LONG. And I started applying the modge podge to cover the fabric a few minutes ago and it doesnt seem like the modge podge is soaking into the fabric. Did I wait too long to make it work?? I'm flying out of town at 6am in the morning and I have to take these back with me so I need advise asap in case I have to start all over again.
@craftingforalmosteveryone5 жыл бұрын
Did you put a big layer of Mod Podge on the plate before laying down the material? And then another layer on top of the material immediately after laying the material down? If you waited between the coats, that probably your problem, but if you try putting a heavy coat over it, that might work. Not sure what else to tell you. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but Rich (my husband) had his hip replaced this morning..it turned out great, but unfortunately, I didn't get back to you soon enough... Maybe you could try taking them with you and adding another heavy coat over what you've already done and see if that works...Let me know how it goes...Sandy

I can’t wait to make some of these! Your nails are so pretty. What is the name of that color?
@craftingforalmosteveryone6 жыл бұрын
I hope you have fun making them....I forgot to mention in the video that this Mod Podge has a stronger smell than the others, and you might want to open a window or close off the room once you use it. I found the smell while drying to be the most strong, and closed my craft room door until it was dry... You're the second person to ask about this nail polish..I really like OPI nail polishes but hate paying full price for them. I got a 25% off coupon from CVS and went online to cvs.com and bought three different colors...I am almost positive the color in this video is Cotton Candy and if you like light pinks, I bought another one that's more skin tone pink, and it's called Bubble Bath...So glad you liked the colors I choose....and the reason I buy OPI is because I can hold the bottle easily...(Not sure if that matters to you, but I always like to share those details.)

I love OPI also. My daughter is a nail tech and she uses a lot of OPI because it’s a durable polish. I have black she gave me. I only wear black and pinks. I’m going to tell her those colors so she will get them at her price. Thanks for the tips too ❤️.

Getting ready to give this a try. Question: how long do you wait between the 2-3 coats you apply ?
@craftingforalmosteveryone4 жыл бұрын
I really like to let it dry between coats so waited several hours to overnight between coats. You can wait less, I'm just overly cautious. If you look at it and there's no white left to the glue, it should be safe to do the next coat...

Hi! I’m new to your channel and I have a question regarding these plates. Does the back of the plate become smooth after it cures, or what can I do to take the texture from the of the plate?
@craftingforalmosteveryone5 жыл бұрын
Dolores, I'm always happy to answer questions. The back of the plate would become more smooth with more coats of Mod Podge, but I chose to only use two or three coats, and you can still feel the texture of the material (that I liked)...They do use quite a bit of Mod Podge, and if you're going for the smooth feel, it might take a whole container to accomplish that..Best of luck to you with this project...it's simple unless you choose the fabric on the left that has an embroidered design, and then you'll need to cut around some of the embroidery to get it to lay flat....I'd love to see a photo of one you create...Sandy saundralparker@yahoo.com

Hi...quick question..sometimes after i modge podge the fabric to the plate and it dries there might be a little edge that didnt stick and the whole piece comes off like it didnt stick at all, i washed and wiped with alcohol..any suggestions❤
@craftingforalmosteveryone4 жыл бұрын
I always add a good amount of Mod Podge to the edges, both under and over the material, so it doesn't pull off, and I really make sure I rub the edge of the material to make sure it's on the plate.. .and if you don't make sure each coat is totally dry (I leave mine overnight to ensure they're dry) then they can pull off as each layer has to be dry to make sure it is well adhered..Hope that helped...Sandy

@craftingforalmosteveryone5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't try it. Burlap is too thick and the Mod Podge will dry between the layers and you'll see the Mod Podge once it's dry because of the thickness. Hope that helped. I'd recommend using a craft style holiday themed fabric or another light weight fabric...Good luck with it..Sandy

Where can you buy glass plates. Dollar stores do not have in Tn or ky
@craftingforalmosteveryone Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Did you know you can buy them from Dollar Tree online for delivery...you only have to order 8 of them to have them delivered to your home. The shipping to my house would be 14.99, so each plate would be a little over $3. I'm not sure, but don't think you could find them cheaper unless at a thrift store. If you live near a Crate & Barrel, they have a set of 8 right now for $21.95, so that would make the plates slightly cheaper $2.75 a plate, I didn't check on shipping. Hope I helped you. Sandy

How long does it take for the modge podge to cure?😊
@craftingforalmosteveryone3 ай бұрын
It depends on your climate. I live in N/W PA and made mine around the beginning of December, so it was warm in my house and dry from electric heat. I'd say it took about a day for it to be cured, but if I put a thicker coat on when the material is thicker (yes, I had to adjust with thicker material to ensure the material was wet with Mod Podge and not just damp,) then it took more like 2 days. If the Mod Podge still looks milky, wait another day, and if it's just milky in one spot, try using your hair drier to ensure it's all dry. If you live in a humid area, it might take longer to dry. Hope that helped. Sandy

Maybe try wetting it again with Mod Podge to see if you can brush the lines out? Brush in a different direction from what you did before..if you went side to side, this time try up and down. Also, if it's not completely dry, you'll still see lines. If you really hate it, you might be able to wet it enough with warm water to remove the material completely...it could be the type of material you're using isn't adhering tightly enough to the plate..is it a heavy fabric? I'm happy to help if I can. If you want to send me photos of the issue, saundralparker@yahoo.com...I'll give it a look...Sandy

The black material is the craft material you would buy in the section where they have holiday inspired materials for crafts..I think it's cotton, but don't really know fabrics. The material with holly on it is a sheer fabric that I found in the section of Joanns where they sell fabrics that are for holidays for dressy dresses...hope that made a little sense.
