QUESTION, PAULA ... @ o.d. 9:43 where you were showing us that to scan the space between the doll's arm and her body, you selected the middle icon. THAT icon, to my mind, would leave a shadow -- or a "BUBBLE" around the image, much like the "bubbles" that some die sets give us to accent our die cut words. The THIRD icon seemed to me to have been the more intuitive one to choose. Would you explain, please, what THAT one does? Many thanks, dear Lady, for a l l your help!!

Very nice demo. Word of caution though: You must check the company’s “Angel Policy” regarding electronic reproduction of the die (or stamp) image. While an Angel Policy does not generally affect anything you create/use for personal use, it does affect anything you might sell that uses that image. The majority of craft companies do not allow you to replicate or resize their dies electronically if you are the using the resulting image in commercial products for sale (such as greeting cards, scrapbook pages, or journals).
@craftingwithpaula3 жыл бұрын

@craftingwithpaula Жыл бұрын
I’m planning on making a video about boxes too. The scoring lines don’t work but that’s not a problem because you can always score it after it’s cut. I don’t like to design scoring lines on ScanNCut, because he does it by cutting the paper in small dots or dashes and that exposes the white part of the inside of the paper. I don’t like that.

Such a great informative video! I am still learning with my scan n cut and did know how to do this but you made it so easy to understand the steps! Thank you such much! Keep up the great work! 😊
@SlowPCGaming12 жыл бұрын
This is where the scanning mat makes sense. With it you don't have to glue or tape things down. You place everything where you want it on the scan mat, close the clear cover, load the mat, and scan. You also don't run the risk of scraping or damaging the scanner element. But if you're still under warranty Brother will take care of it. I got a new machine as a replacement for a defective scanner element plus another new manufacturer's warranty. If you don't have the die machine used for the dies you could color them with a dark marker before placing them on your scanning mat. That ought to provide all the contrast needed to render a good scan. Now you can go out to buy more dies or shapes to scan with your Scan N Cut to convert them into new .FCMs. A Brother representative told me the internal storage size is limited to 1.5 MegaBytes! It'll fill up quickly with so little to work with. I'm nowhere near filling my 16 GigaByte USB 2 flash Drive with .FCMs or .SVGs.

How do I separate these once they are scanned into the machine. Say I only wanted the rectangle cut and not the others?
@katefrancis7166 Жыл бұрын
Fab tutorial. I have a problem though. Following your instructions to the letter which I write down as you go. When I scan he image in it is perfect but as soon as I move the arrows to crop the image when joining it all together there are parts that get missed out. It's a butterfly and some bits on the tips of the wings don't cut out. I Have tried scanning it in about 5 times in different places on the mat but the same happens. Sadly this is my favourite die :( I'm using an SDX900. Any help you can give me would be great, thanks. x
@craftingwithpaula Жыл бұрын
it probably separated parts of the image. The way to solve this is by GROUPING what has been identified as different parts. Use the arrow keys to find what is separated and join them by "grouping" into one image. This should solve the problem.

Just a question...after you've done all this and you want to cut the images, do you place the paper on your mat in a specific location? Can you show how you do the actual cutting once the images are saved to your machine? I just got my SNC and I'm new to all this.
@craftingwithpaula2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine, there is no specific place for the paper, as long as it stays within the margins you see on the mat. As for cutting, if you look through my videos, there are many showing how to cut images, it's basically the same process.
@MsTKutube3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Paula! I have a question-what if a shape die has stitching on the cutting side? Us their a way to include the stitching on the saved scan and cut image?
@craftingwithpaula3 жыл бұрын
It will depend on the paper, and how well the machine will scan it. I doubt it would be worth it because the stitching is so delicate that for sure there will be portions without it. Maybe if you use a light-colored cardstock/paper? And honestly, even when I create a shape on Canvas with stitching, it never looks as good as the ones we get from dies.
@pompom_85882 жыл бұрын
You could create an internal offset and change the cutting line to dashes.

@@craftingwithpaula Ah, Yes! Found that! Is there some "button" to push to get the machine to allow US to name our saved image? @dib33856 ай бұрын
most die companies do NOT permit their dies to be used in this way, either to make the multiple of the same size cuts or to resize them etc. Brother have been quite clear about this, it breaches the die makers copyright/copyright laws. If you want to do this with any dies then you must ask the die makers permission to do so. Tattered Lace, Two red robins and Quirky bird permit this but most others do not. Tonic Studios and Spellbinders certainly don't permit their dies to be used in/with the machine in anyway and have warned their customers that this is not permitted
@sharonchambers5721Ай бұрын
While this is an excellent lesson, it’s important to remind everyone that many die companies have specific terms of use that may prohibit the copying of their dies into the Scan'n'Cut for resizing or flipping. For instance, Tonic is a company that clearly states their dies and stamps should not be used in conjunction with the Scan'n'Cut. It's always best to check the guidelines of each company to ensure compliance.
