In this video I pick up a Craftsman 8.5 HP Chipper/Shredder on Facebook Marketplace for cheap. When I go to pick it up I found out that it had carburetor problems that need to be addressed. I end up replacing the carburetor to fix it. Then I grind up some stuff to test it.
Here is a link to the carburetor:

I just finished up fixing my chipper similar to this one, night and day difference after I sharpened the two blades on the chipper side. Just had to remove the small feed hopper and the exit chute. Used a small grinder sander to get the chipped edges straight and a file to finish sharpness. Makes great chips now and sucks the branches right in with 0 effort

Thank you for this video. My chipper has been sitting in my shed for about 7 years. I took the carb apart and found some dried up gaskets inside the fuel bowl but the rest of the carb looks good. Fuel line leaked so had to replace the fuel line which is behind the flywheel. So with the link to the carb at 14 bucks, it's a no brainer to just order a new carb. You saved me some time and money. I remember it being tough to access the chipping blades but I need to check and see how sharp they still are. Great video.

I picked up the a model that looks one generation older than yours for $80 -sharpen the blades and your unit will have zero issues zipping through tree branches. Bench grind em and throw some lithium grease on everything that moves and pivots under that housing and that thing is a beast.

I have not touched the blades. I should probably check them. Thanks for watching!
