I bought one of these 6 months ago. It was a replacement for my 24 year old Toro that the motor was finally starting to go out in. Parents bought the Toro brand new in 98' and gave it to me when I bought my first house 3 years ago. The craftsman has been great for the last 6 months, zero issues or complaints. Don't think it will last 24 years like the toro haha, but it has done a fine job since I bought it.

I’ve been wondering SINCE THE 1st mow if I can store this mower with gas or not. Idk why it took me so long to see THIS VIDEO! Thank you! Also on Lowe’s site there’s just one ☝️ guy whining about his mower probably trying to get something for free. This is a great mower and yes it Definitely is Self-Propelled you can feel it. My 12 year old daughter could tell. Great mower 👍🏼 now I’m sure I can store vertical!!

Need help. Bought this Craftsman yesterday at Lowes (mine was also now $419) to replace an older Troy Bilt model (also bought at Lowes several years ago before they crossed over to Craftsman.) My Troy Bilt engine still works perfect. The self propel cable broke on the Troy, easy enough fix. But the problem with the Troy was a large hole developed pretty quickly over time in the case (big enough to fit a softball through it) so grass was flying out from every which way, could probably be patched with a little welding. Nonetheless I went ahead and got the Craftsman M260 today and I like it because it's lighter than the Troy. However, the Troy self propel is much better. I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong, but the self propel on the Craftsman is very weak. When you engage the self propel handle, and lift the front two wheels off the ground, the wheels seem to turn fine. However, soon as I sit them back on the ground there might as well not be any power from them whatsoever. Honestly, if that's all the strength they provide, I might as well have saved money and got the cheaper "push" Craftsman. I tested the self propel out on my concrete driveway and the pull power is extremely weak. The handle does, however, seem to be on the loose side, not as tight of a hand pull as I'm used to. So I tried to adjust the "tighten" grip on the self propel handle...and even though it moves...it seems to not want to adjust and sort of reverts back to where it's set. It doesn't appear broken. Do you have any suggestions? Really like the mower otherwise, nice and lightweight. But my last two push mowers have been self propelled and both of them will literally pull you. This one I'm essentially pushing it because as of now the FWD is just not powerful. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

There’s definitely something wrong. The pulley is not engaging and providing the necessary tension take it back and get another or investigate

@@BrandonActionJackson thanks for your response. Another KZbinr said he had the same problem with his and said he had to return his, something about the cable being “punched in” between the motor and the deck.

It wasn’t an option to get the 260 with a Honda at my Lowe’s. I almost bought an actual Honda mower itself for twice as much but I stuck with this one because all I really wanted was something self propelled and my last mower was a craftsman with a Briggs and I thought it would never die I had it for years and was very dependable

Just bought this today and for the life of me don’t u deter and how the large handle bar portion bolts to the lower arm part. The gapping is 2” apart when I line up the proper holes to bolt back together. Looks like it was wrong from factory but looking at how it’s assembled in this vid it’s the same way as mine except not a 2” gap. Wtf

Hate it. I've owned Craftsman for 20 years and my 10 year old mower starts on one pull. Used this one a few times and it will not start after sitting over the winter. Has no prime bulb. How the sam hill do you get gas into carburetor

@@BrandonActionJackson Because you would rather have rear wheel drive or something else? It seems every mower they have is rear wheel drive and rarely do they have side discharge chute. Maybe it is hard to turn when rear wheels are moving or they have tension on them. I would buy this mower if it is good quality. Thanks

Lowes comments shows bad reviews. Oil leaks from standing vertical and stalling engines. Any problems like these yet? I still want to get one today and just see for my self.

not in the slightest.. the oversized engine powers through everything I throw at it compared to my last 140cc. it also hasn't leaked the slightest bit of oil

Update... I'm loving this machine! Cuts clean, very powerful, fast and strong on my hills and is very easy to put away. No problems with it at all and it's lighter than I thought to move in storage mode. No leaks from mine. Glad I bought it!

Yep.. $419 is what i just bought mine for at Lowes on Friday. Used it this evening for the first time. I’d give it 5 stars+.. got my military discount and it came to $408 including tax.

@@LB-xl5dq Yea I like mine as well. Starts up on first pull every time. If I had to nitpick the only drawback I've found is the front wheels don't pull as well as my old Troy-Bilt mower. It's almost like the weight on the front of the mower isn't heavy enough to let the wheels get traction.
