Craftsman 44809 ratchet clean-up, I will show how I made a little tool to help put the ball bearing back into it, this little tool will help with other brands with the placement of the ball bearing, and for you new guys that are taking this apart for the first time I hope the Zip-lock bag works for you, this Craftsman ratchet is one of the most popular ones and are well made.

I just took apart my first ratchet today and cleaned and oiled it. I'll be publishing that video soon. I happen to have an older Craftsman, and needed every bit of this video. Thank you.

Your welcome, just do not do like I have, and loose the ball bearing, I have done this a few times!

And that my friend is why I love 'DA TUBE'!!! The bag method is something I would NEVER have thought of if I did not see you do it!

I really cannot take credit for that; I read or heard it some were, but I have never seen anyone show it, and I believe if it is your first time taking one apart then it makes sense to contain your parts and not lose them like I have!!!

Not to steal anyone's thunder, but a hairpin works like magic. Just bend the ends a bit apart to give something to hold onto and use the loop end to hold the ball in place.

@@SOPHIAFLYGIRL I like your style, my wife was a surgical nurse and all the tools they used were stainless steel, hammers, chisels, drills, bits and others, so when she grabs one of mine, she will tell me about the kinds that she used!!!

Very good video. It's a shame that ratchets are allowed to get in this condition to begin with. If you clean your tools consistently, especially when exposed to the elements, this can be avoided. Of course frequent oiling with regular 10W30, especially after your ratchets have been exposed to water, is key to keeping them working like new.
