Always good to see a tool that you can repair instead of throw in the trash. I never like to see a "factory sealed" unit.

Yes I'd like to thank you for your comment about Water-Displacing 40 it's not an absolute solution for every lubrication need 😊

Just pulled apart and cleaned 15 older style ones this. Was going to take them in to get them replaced but got them all going except one it back pedals. Read alot of good stuff about super lube so im giving that a try.

Opened up, cleaned, and lubed an old VG44809. Got it all back together, and the dust plate sticks up ever so slightly near the bottom after I put the snap ring back on. Because of this, I can't flip the switch back and forth. Any insight or tips?

Where can I found a repair kit for 44808, 44811 ? Amazon and Ebay dosnt have it.
@thenkgarage11 ай бұрын
They are hard to find, inspect your ratchet to see if you actually need any replacement parts. If you do it’s easier to find the same used ratchet to borrow parts from. I have opened up about 50 of these ratchets over the past year and I can only remember one that actually needed replacement parts, most of the time a good cleaning and lubrication does the trick.

U know what sucks… the repair kit costs more than a new ratchet !

These ratchets can be found in abundance at garage sales, fb marketplace, flea markets, even ebay. If it can’t be fixed with a tear down and service, I suggest a parts ratchet if it’s sentimental or a used replacement if not

Service kits for a ratchet that's supposed to have a lifetime warranty.
