I love this. Yes, I’m one of those that you made me get excited again about a joy I abandoned. I had quite a few traumas and my only joy is my photos and you have brought excitement back to my life. My CM equipment sit prestige and dusted while I spent my days finding joy thumbing through countless photos but no organization or how to start again. I realize I need templates and recipes and categories. I have tribute albums for loved ones I want to express in my albums. The joy of raising my son as a child. It was the best times! I’m excited to use these planner pages to help me stay on track.

Loving this series and the Printables are going to be very handy. Especially the time tracker ones. It is a great tool, when you just have no idea where to start. So thank you for providing them.

I am so glad you have added the album project worksheet. It is my favorite way to plan an album. This will be so helpful. Regular photo boxes are not archivally safe. I have already invested in CM Photo boxes, and they are awesome. They hold so many photos! My boxes are about 10-12 years old, and still like new. It feels like a huge accomplishment to actually empty a box as you scrap those events, and then so fun to add photos in again as I plan a new album. The extra box for ARCHIVE photos is a great idea, and being archivally safe boxes means there is no damage to those photos you store, no matter how long they remain stored. Just put the lid on😀 I have already gravitated toward the LOM style box and album based on the photos I take and love but don't use. These get re-categorized and become "food for pages" that are more "fun" than documenting. For example, after scrapping my pets in my pet album and within my chrono album, I still have awesome photos of them. Now I put the extras into my LOM box, and if I want to make a page for a challenge or to artistically play, I have photos I can draw from.

Thank you so much for this process! At first I said, that's a lot of forms! But, I got them started with you as I watched, paused to fill them out and continued on. Pages I am not sure I will use, I wrote, in pencil, how you suggested they be used. I am without my own home right now but I have some pictures from my storage. They are in the power sort box and I found my power layout and of course there are layouts already ready to complete! This gives me something to do besides think about my situation and I really an enjoying the process. Doing the timeline helped me to see my accomplishments which I had forgotten. Your POP has been a blessing to me. Thank you so much for sharing!

Lauren, I want to thank you so much for doing these episodes & for the downloads! I started scrapbooking several years ago, with some god-awful results in those early layouts. (Overabundance of loud patterned paper, anyone???) LOL But I am still very interested in memory keeping & documenting. I even have my 83-year-old mother writing an autobiography. When I was a kid, we used to go camping, & Daddy would tell us stories about his childhood adventures. Sadly, he never wrote them down, and none of us ever thought to. He died in 2003 after a long illness, and many of his stories died with him, because we just don't remember, or only remember bits & pieces. I have done even more layouts in recent years, but they are so random, and I never knew how to organize them. The only real albums I've done are a few theme/big moments albums, like my brother & SIL's wedding & honeymoon albums. But I still have all these random pages that just don't fit in a category. But I love your systematic method of organizing things. That sort of thing is just right up my alley! I also have TONS of old photos from my growing up years, as well as heritage photos from my parents to sort & scrapbook. Anyway, sorry for such a long comment. I just want you to know how grateful I am & how much I look forward to learning more about your process. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

I love this whole idea! I have one question: what s the difference between your baby album and your first year album? Please expand on that. I have 3 of 4 left to complete and wonder if there's a better way than how I've been doing it.
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Now, Perspective!!! LOL If I had to start fresh I would group birth up to kinder in one book “a growing up” or first years book. Then next would be school years, how ever many volumes that would take, then in middle school/high school switch to “all about you” book
@annealagna4 жыл бұрын
@@CraftSomeJoy My baby books tend to include about 50 pages/100 layouts 12x12 everything about them growing, milestones, faves, etc, then first birthday in a smaller book by itself including party and gifts and cards. Then a toddler book covering until school years with however many necessary volumes. Did you break apart your types of layouts between your baby and birth to 1 books so certain stuff was in only one book or was there unnecessary cross-over? I definitely want to include all the same types of layouts because I took photos themed that way, but my daughters book is delicate now having been stuffed with 46 pages so I can see where breaking it up could be beneficial....I'm just stuck for direction to change. There's no way I could get first year in a book with toddler years with as much as I have to cover.

@@CraftSomeJoy PS I quit scrapbooking 7 or 8 years ago, always wishing I had the motivation to start up again, but not really ready to tackle the big questions. Thanks for opening this door and making me excited again.

Hi Anne, I understand. I have been there. Wanting to document every moment and every detail. I would start first by asking if this is something you can continue and maintain? When I asked myself the question I knew the answer. With 3 other kids after my first, I could not continue the way I was going. And honestly, scrapping felt like a chore doing it this way. So, even though my oldest has 5 (yes 5!) volumes for her first 5 years, I decided I did not want to continue that for the others. I was behind because I thought I HAD to do it that way because I started that way! Now I am letting that go, and making a plan that is more realistic. And fun. I am consciously focusing on the absolute best photos so that I can make the albums manageable. Yes not ALL my photos will get scrapped. But my best ones will. For a list of my albums, see the comment to Linda’s question! Hope this helps ❤️

Is there a place to show albums you have already completed other than on the timeline? Also do the project sheets go in all the categories of albums?

Hello Lauren, l have inspired by your series and thankful for the effort you have put into all. Having bought lots of scrapbook stuff twenty odd years ago, l never actually got anything completed. Now l have time hurray! What type of paper is the photo stored in, is it archival?
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah! Excellent! Now it’s time to get it all out and get it done! I use an acid free, lignin free card stock to make my photo folders.

Do you have a tutorial for those photo folders in your power box?
@lindarippstein44894 жыл бұрын
On the kids albums are you only doing their baby thru school years? I know you mentioned when they get a car that would go into the family album, so I was wondering if that might go into their own individual album too?
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, yes great question. Kids albums are a hot topic! My plan (and you should adapt to what is best for you😉) is: 1) baby album (birth and milestones) 2) first year (because I already had those done) 3) school years vol .1 (grades k-2) 4) school years vol. 2 (grades 3-5) 5) all about book (grade 6-??) What will fit, then move to 2nd volume So yes, in their “all about” book I would put their first car, and other events related to them In my family book I want to make the connections over time, or across people, so it would be focused on relationships and the family. I hope that makes sense! 😁Thanks for asking!

I’ve been watching and now feel even more overwhelmed. Do you just begin this process from where ever you are or from the start? What if you have albums from many decades started but not completed how do you begin this or can you even do that?
@plansinthemaking4 жыл бұрын
You are not alone. It is overwhelming especially if you are way behind like me. The best thing is to try things out and see what works for you. I tried out the timeline sheet. I think the idea behind planning it out is that it helps you decide whether you want to continue trying to chronologically scrapbook everything which may not be manageable or whether to use the idea of grouping photos across time together under a theme. I am just finishing my 2019 album then I will be going back to complete my unfinished albums from the last few years before making a decision about all the other years I have not started!!
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Thank You Julie! Well explained 😁
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Hazel, you can do this! Deep breath. The best place to start is to think about what you want for albums and the photos you have. Just like you, I started chronologically but found it was too much to continue with ALL my photos. So now chronological is only big moments-special events-the BEST photos. All the other photos you get to decide what to do with, and what albums would bring you the most joy❤️

Julie Smith I think if I had to finish those started that would probably take this year. Maybe an exaggeration but that’s how it feels.

CraftSomeJoy I guess we are different in that we have no family over here so very often there has only been the four of us so big events were either enjoyed or we don’t celebrate them. Haven’t had family apart from stepmom or in-laws in my house for over 30 years. After mum died in 1983 and then we moved to the states in 1997 any visiting has been done by us. Sorry that is just a little bit of self pity being expressed. I am filing out my timeline and will try and complete albums as I check them of the list. Found one in the 1st four. It’s going to be a lot of work but I know I will enjoy looking at them if nothing else! Thank you everyone for the support.

I just came across your channel and now I'm a new subscriber :) It's brilliant! I love your content, your organizing skills and actually have started to put some things into practice. Loooove your paper organizing and would love to get an overview of my Scrapbook project through your techniques. Your Timeline is fabulous and so smart. However, I'm confused about all those "extra" categories?? What are they for? And is the project tracker a tracker to track the timeline?? I'm a chronological scrapbooker as well and don't see quite through through all those templates and subcategories. Let's say one doesn't have children, yes that omits the extra albums, but what do you mean with "Everyday life" and then have all those additional titles?? Do you mean to have tons of extra albums in addition to the chronological every day life?? An Album with cars, bedtimes, haircuts..... ?? Travel I can see and find that's a fabulous idea and I'm getting around that thought to have a separate album for that, but the rest would be in one as it's in that one year. What am I missing here?? Could you please clarify. That would be amazing as I think your skills are just fabulous!! Thanks so much and I look forward to start scraping again, yeah! I put it off for such a long time.... hugs xoxo
