@Bini9 ...which is odd, considering he is a friend of Stephen Fry, and Stephen Fry is a friend of the late Christopher Hitchens.

@Bini9 Well I can't really say much about the USA, I'm up here in Canada, but in the area I live in and the cities near by, it seems to be the other way around, where if you say anything about being religious you get talked down to. I'm sure it is different down in the south US, most people I've met from that area are quite religious. But Stephen Hawking manages to be quite respected being atheist, and George Carlin is one of the most respected comedians ever

@Bini9 I get the feeling that he's confusing nihilism with atheism, what with him saying, "you'd have to say for the love of nothing", and saying Patton wasn't an atheist because he felt there was some pattern to the universe. It was an odd turn for the interview to go.

someone who said they r atheist should at least understand what it is before try to defending it. cuz there's not thing to defend here. atheist is just not theist so what r u defending? like sam harris said do u go around and tell ppl that u r non-racist or non-astrologist? instead when u ask y dont u believe? ask then back y do u believe? there u go something to discuss. btw, craig admitted it all the time that he had make fun of things that he know not thing about. so y atheism any different?

@Bini9 I love everything about Craig. I've even made the pilgrimage to be in his studio audience. But ultimately, Craig has far more religious people to please than he does atheists like me. If he alienates with either with a pro-atheist response or even knowing too much about it, he risks tons of negative publicity. According to his book he is "not very religious" and "not sure if there is a god." It's just business and that's good enough for me.

@benoitddd42 I Don't think it's that they are seen as weird. For me it's the fact that most of them, that I know anyway, are like Patton said his friends were and just ready to jump on anything and point out how "stupid" and how much more enlightened they are, even when it comes to people say "thank God" etc. Fundamentalists seem to be the rule not the exception with atheism as opposed to other ideologies. It's refreshing to see atheists like Patton do exist.
@thealchemist111112 жыл бұрын
@ewall I agree it is yes/no question. Can we agree that to deny something, what you're denying needs to exist first? If you say " I deny that accusation" for example, both parties agree the accusation exists. So can we agree the question is incoherent? 10.34

@hughJ25 I suppose your right, I was just basing my comment off the atheists that I know who don't want an intelligent debate with each side saying "Here's what I believe and why" and respecting each others point of view, which seemed to be what Patton was doing. The ones I know want to tell you your stupid using scientific words and terms they don't understand, making me have to explain string theory basics to someone using it as an argument, not that I'm any expert in it either.
