Indeed. there is an almost mathematical certainty that life exists (or have existed) somewhere in the universe beyond on Earth. The very factors that determines that also determines with the same mathematical certainty that us ever meeting other intelligent life will not happen. One needs to keep in mind that the universe is very very large, very very old and very very empty.

Shinigami true, probably there are many civilizations out there in the vastness of space, but there is a difference between accepting that and thinking some of them are here in secret to kidnap farmers and look in their butt. I think when we talk about "believing in aliens" we should make the distinction, just to be on the safe side of not promoting bs.
