I'm a big believer in abstaining from apologising in vlogs. Most people don't even notice. Most people also don't care that there may have been an issue anyway. We're not filming with a load of people who have assigned roles, we're doing it all ourselves. The imperfection is part of the reason we watch.
@CraigPrentisPhoto6 жыл бұрын
You're probably right in that people won't notice but I don't think it hurts to get across some of the frustrations of how these things are made. Cheers Jeff.

Craig Prentis I on the other hand worked in TV shooting videos for 35 years, so I appreciate you giving a heads up if you had an issue, specially with the audio. It is very annoying when you hear bad audio, for me is enough not to continue watching. Keep up the nice work! Beautiful photos, thank you.

Terrific I love that you use a spot lightmeter. Most of “photographers” will never learn how to use it. I went to the CCC , here in México, and the "students" don't really care much about learning how to use it. Pretty well explained your video, thank you very much for your dedication and passion.

It's always a pleasure to stumble upon a vlog that talks and guides the viewer through taking photographs, compositions and why makes a great photo. There are way too many so called photo vlogs that talks about camera gear, bokeh, dynamic range, noise, why a zillion pixel camera is the best thing since sliced bread, etc. They are really boring as photography is about what you do. Keep it up and I've subscribed to your channel!

I use my pan F to photograph trees also. It's exposure latitude allows highlights and good detail in the shadows in our bright Florida light. I use a baby Grafic and a 6x6 back. I meter through the camera and add enough f stops to make up for the loss through the ground glass.

Wonderful channel, great pictures. Thank you for that. I don’t know if you‘re aware of it, but the close up adapter of the Mamiya 6 75mm lens fits perfectly on the 80mm Mamiya 7 lens and lets you focus down to 50cm. It‘s a great addition to this system. @@getawaytherapy thanks for your reply, clearly you've never owned a Japanese Akita 😀 they are highly independent, primitive and fearless, high prey drive dogs with hunting and fighting in their DNA and very poor recall, even with good training they make their own decisions when they want. I'm teaching him the "picture" command which means stopping for a while and being patient, it's working a bit but if he sees so much as a pheasant or a rabbit they're off!

No need for apologies Craig - don't think anyone would have noticed any sound issues , well I certainly didn't :) Very enjoyable as always and a couple of stand out images for me - loved the image at 5.50 with the large tree, the tree in the background seemed to be replicating the main subject, nice. Also the hawthorn and the fence, in mono it could have been taken any time in the last 50 years - timeless. To end the roll with a shot of Barney was perfect, great shot too.

Hi Alan, I’m glad you didn’t find the audio too jarring. I like using ambient sound but I could have done without the car noises - it didn’t really fit with the ambiance of the woodland. Very nice images Craig and great to see the use of film. Brings back memories from when I done a course on photography at School many, many years ago where we got to shoot with B&W film and process it all from start to finish. Very satisfying process and to see your image come to life in the tanks is something I will always remember.

Thanks Ray, yes I started with film at college and have gone back to it all these years later. I must admit I love the processing bit afterwards and seeing the film appear out of the tank. I hope to be able to darkroom print at some stage but for now, scanning and inkjet printing is good enough for me.

Renegade Scot::::: Brings back the time when all i used was film, Transparencies and lots of B&W. I use to go out in the marshes and woods in the morning and evenings in Florida. Sold my Darkroom years ago and yes i miss it as well. Digital has it's advantages. One, you're your own processor without all the chemicals and time. Two, speed we can get cleaner shots never achieved with film at higher ISO. And three you're not dealing with rolls of film and film backs. Does this make me excited? Not actually, but it has become the new speedy format for lots of Pros, and so many people feel they have become pros. For me the truth of film and skills in the darkroom is what made a good to great photographer, having that knowledgeable eye at the magic moment is always going to be the main ingredient. But i haven't seen a photo lately that made me go wow, without it being over-hyped with software. What would Galen Rowell be using today? Ever notice how technology with it's speediness that was suppose to give us more time to do things has actually taken time away? This is my personal opinion so take it for whats it's worth.
