If the paywall ensures voting isn’t blanketed by trolls, or industry “bots”/fanatics, or otherwise monopolized by one set of gamer/game “group”… I don’t see the issue. The biggest criticism is that one aspect, by short-sighted or otherwise flatly ignorant, or more than likely, disingenuous contrarians. The gatekeeping is a necessary component in hopefully operating and protecting an event,a system, that won’t be destroyed before it even gets off the ground. The fee is fair.

the 30$ is blocking mostly the bot farms. @StCerberusEngel18 күн бұрын
There are two things here that could be improved on outside of the grammar on the website. 1.) What's the harm in showing the categories to the public? You don't have to open the voting to them, but making an easy to peruse list of the categories and nominees so that people can see the possible entries makes sense, and may even encourage some to become voting members. You can browse through the categories currently, but it's not laid out especially well. That said, the option to vote would be a great thing for the general audience, which leads me to point 2.) What about a free voting option that's displayed along-side the paid member vote? You would be able to still have the paid member vote be the official result, with the free option being a special mention or the like. It would help show transparency and give the public who don't have or want to spend the $30 just to vote for an award show a level of participation. And since it won't effect the official result, botting would be pointless or at worst, just funny.

Those are Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I think this award show is a great start to give gamers the award show they deserve that isn't controlled by activist and non-gamers that have no interest in the games they are pushing on us(Ex. Dustborn, dragonage the veilguard) and ignoring the real games that gamers love(Stellar Blade, Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, Final Fantasy 7 rebirth, Astrobot, Indiana Jones and the great circle, Dragonball Sparking Zero, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Marvel versus Capcom fighting collection)

I pay no attention to any game awards. Never have. I just play the games I like and ignore the rest. I have no interest in knowing, or making it known, what the best game of the year is. It has zero bearing on my purchasing of a game. There's been "games of the year" that I've completely ignored and passed over for other games just because they didn't appeal to me. Also, Craig, no disrespect, but you have a literal degree in journalism. Grammar should be a forte. 😂

I've seen Craig throughout the years. He has always wanted to keep moving and work with an idea, and with passion. Sure, there are some flaws, but it's a step in a more positive direction. He's working more with actually gamers then the other. Keighly's game award has become the Corporation's Oscars now, while only dangling shiny trailers for the gamers.

If it's not about the money, then buy 1 game per member (of varied prices) and raffle it among members. Get yourself a 20% cut for organizing and spend 80% of membership money to buy 1 game code per member in the range of $5-$70 per game. Then raffle all those among voting members. So you could spend $30 and not only get a vote, but potentially get a $70 game. Just do the raffle transparently on the stream.
