A lot people have sentimental value in their gear and they think it’s worth more then what’s it’s worth. A used item is a used item. Who knows how it’s been tinkered with and so buyers have to take a gamble but if it’s too close to a new price or MSRP it’s certainly not worth it for the buyer.

@@mikeycrackson The seller should always have a price in mind that they feel is the lowest they’ll ever go and price around that.. ie: start with a little headroom at the top and then negotiate till you meet in the middle or reach a point where you’re at your lowest possible dollar pricing stupid high out the get go because you feel like you’re going to get low balled anyways is just 1) asking to get low balled 2) to have hardly anybody actually interested in the thing you’re selling There are plenty of variables that I don’t feel like mentioning and certain circumstances where your strategy makes sense on certain items, but for the most part I’m just not going to even message the person if there price is so hilariously far out there. Most of the time when I feel like I have something reasonably priced I get way more interest and people less willing to “low ball” because my item actually is a good deal. Just my two cents
@Elite36653 жыл бұрын
@@mikeycrackson Well there’s context you’re leaving out. How much did it cost you to buy that item? If you bought that item for $275 and try to sell for $250, well then I might as well buy new. $200 would be a more reasonable starting price and $180 is a fair deal. It’s the people that price so close to new or MSRP or whatever I could competitively find for that price that just drive me insane because it’s just a waste of time and money for both people. Some people get lucky and find a buyer who hasn’t done enough research.

The first PC the person obviously took the GPU out of it to sell for probably more than he paid for the whole PC. Probably the other stick of ram too. It would have been a competent build had he left those in it. Also, I find most people that sell something “as-is” or “untested” means they know the thing does not work, they just get away with it when they sell it.
@50shadesofbeige883 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I price my stuff 25-30% above what I want for it, because in my area people will commit to a price, and proceed to show up and expect a discount. Depending on how many offers I have, I may or may not want to call them on their bluff. Also, despite it's stigma, technically anything that doesn't have a warranty is "AS-IS". That doesn't necessarily mean it's broken. I mark all of my eBay items AS-IS because I've had many instances, where people will break an item, then claim that it happened during shipping and ask for a discount or a refund.

@fermitupoupon17543 жыл бұрын
I always sell things 'as-is' for the simple reason that I don't want to deal with the buyer breaking it and then coming back to me for a refund. Same reason why I do not sell things using paypal or similar services. I will however offer to show that things are working just fine to reassure the buyer, but beyond that it's "cash and carry, sold as-is, all sales are final". It also helps to weed out the annoying buyers who expect second hand sales between consumers to have the same kind of warranties as a consumer buying brand new stuff from a retailer. In much the same way I buy things with the understanding that they are "as-is", though I will pressure a seller to show me in person that things work. If the seller says things are as-is and is unwilling to show that it works, that's where the red flags start flying. I don't care for the reason why they won't show that it works, I'll just assume that they won't because they can't show a broken thing working.

14:40 - As someone who enjoys testing hardware and at one point enjoyed building PC's to sell, I have been tempted to mark systems "Sold fully working as-is, final sale" because of people having buyers remorse, or the chance of them damaging the PC and asking for me to take responsibility I will 100% own up to any failure that would or could have been caused by me, but dealing with buyers remorse sucks as a seller. And yes, that 3570 RX570 combination can run a lot more games than you would ever expect, people focus way too much on CPU performance these days. I'd still recommend using 4 core i5-11100 or Ryzen 53xx for budget machines, there's really no reason for 6 or 8 cores if you're on a strict budget. There aren't nearly enough reviews these days showing how much a 4 core CPU can do with a 3060 Ti or similar performing GPU. People are simply unaware of this performance segment.

Any good real estate agent for the seller, will tell them, the comps for that area are way lower, so overpricing and item because “you think you know the price” when knowing quite well, we ALL know the real price for it.

Yes you can upgrade to the ryzen 7 5800. Just make sure you update the bios to the latest version from your motherboards manufacturer website

Just sold an XFX RX480 8gb on Ebay for $235. Sold within an hour of listing. Buyer seemed to be overjoyed with it even though I listed it with a very clear warning that "this graphics card will be capable of medium-high 1080p gaming at BEST! Do not expect smooth performance at any higher resolutions." I felt bad for selling such an old and weak GPU for so much, but I was the cheapest listed.

6:35 - This is a HUGE problem on OfferUp. People either put in Blah blah motherboard, X amount of Ram, Graphics card, etc. or they put nothing in but gaming computer and a price. How is anyone to know if the price is decent without detailed specs or at the very minimum, model numbers? Rule of thumb for my ads...Put a simple explanation at the top for those that don't know or care and for the techies, give em the model names and numbers so they can go do some price comparisons.

Last one wasn't too terrible, but oh how I miss the days of getting Powercolor RX570s 4GB brand new for $130.

I need to sell my computer I built a few months ago, what would be a fair price for 5950x , 3090, 32gb ram, and 2 tb ssd?
